Mitov. Time wasting wet wipe.

What a sh1thouse performance from Cambridge, that was embarrassingly bad.

Pathetic performance. As you say, embarrassing. You'd think it was a Prem side vs non-league.

Can't really blame Cambridge. Their resources mean that had they come and tried to play football they would have been stuffed at least 3-0.

What is most refreshing is that we now have enough about us not to be frustrated by the physical, spoiling, frustrating, time-wasting teams.

It was rather more odd seeing Portsmouth play the same way. Their team on paper should have been good enough to compete with us. Perhaps they bought into their own manager's hype about us being so much better!

I thought Cambridge played us well, if they had played an open game we would have crushed them in the first half.

Sounds like the spirit of John Beck remains!

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Yes and no IMO. If they come and try and press we have the quality to pop it around us which is going to lead to chances, but equally they’ve come here and sat in and still been done 3-0. If you’ve got 2,000 fans going away on a Tuesday night I think they deserve a little more ambition than what they showed tonight IMO.

They were 20 minutes from a 0-0 and their fans would have celebrated like a Cup Final win. In the end they got what their ambition deserved but not sure any other approach would have served them better.

Agreed - I was more impressed with Cambridge tonight, considering their resources, than Portsmouth on Saturday.

The recruitment in the summer really looks to have considered what we needed to combat these type of negative, bus parking and physical boundary pushing "performances" from the opposition. Continue to be massively impressed by McKenna and Ashton, know what's needed, go out and get it.

Really? I thought they played pretty well. We barely had a shot for 70 minutes. Any team that comes here and tries to play is going to get pummelled.

I agree on the time wasting, that side of their game was embarrassing.

That aside I thought they were one of the best sides we’ve played this year, organised, hard to break down and looked decent going forward in the first half. Must admit I didn’t see us getting a goal as they had so many bodies in the middle.

Felt like a goal for us would always lead to more as they’d have to commit more going forwards after that.

There was some time wasting (the goalie in particular) but let's be honest we've seen much worse this season.

It was very frustrating, but that was in part because they were so effective at it. They slowed the game down from the first minute but managed to do so without any blatant moments that warranted a yellow card. I'm glad though that I didn't have to see how it would unfold any longer at 0-0.

The main issue with their tactics was the lack of any out option. Too frequently they went long without a target. They would have benefitted from holding a little more possession to frustrate Ipswich and to try and draw a few more set pieces, which looked like their only real threat.

2 keepers in 3 days who began time wasting from the 10th minute.

Embarrassing.

No, the ghost of Mick Heathcote didn't make an apparition! They weren't dirty and didn't fake injury.

A bit of time wasting from the keeper, and 11 men behind the ball for most of the game. It was a disciplined away performance from a team hoping for a point.

When he dribbled to the corner of his box after 10 minutes to eat up some time, that was where I'm shaking my head. Having a pragmatic, men behind the ball approach is one thing which is fine, but to so blatantly look to time waste is another altogether.

Was so glad to see us score a) because it was a big 3 points but b) Mitov was enjoying that far too much in the 2nd half. When he started engaging with the NS just down from where I was sat, he looked so smug.

Happens all the time I know but never gets any less frustrating.

Yep, can't really complain about Cambridge in general too much as it's up to them if they want to play like that but always very sweet to see a GK get embarrassed after being a nob all game.

Made me think of the game against Leeds in the 15/16 season where we went behind after about 10 seconds and their 'keeper spent the entire game taking an age to take every kick, often kicking the ball behind the goal then slowly plodding about to retrieve it, only for us to score a winner in stoppage time and him getting very loud ironic cheers as he then started sprinting to take his kicks, the bell.

On a side note had a laugh to myself as I just looked up that game to remind myself of the 'keeper's name and saw that Steve Evans was the Leeds boss and his post-match summary was that we didn't deserve to win and the result was the ref's fault. Every single game that's the case with his teams, must be the unluckiest bloke in football.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.
