Any pretence that Gove was a vaguely green Tory went bye-byes with his approval of the Whitehaven coal mine, 90% plus of the coal due to be extracted to be sold to the highest overseas bidder.

Significant numbers of Tories themselves opposed this move including Gummer, yet the lure of the trough was too much for Sunak, Gove and the rest of this criminal shower of sh!t.

I’m sure that you’re fully aware that there’s a huge difference between closing coal mines (especially welsh anthracite) in the 80s when our dependency was still high and we continue to import inferior coal to this day and opening a new one in 2022. So, weak joke, GB.

Nice to see you putting a fresh twist on your frequently used opinion that it doesn't matter what we do because other countries are doing worse. It's usually China and coal power stations so good you've picked someone else this time.

The answer is still the same though, just because some other country is doing something it doesn't make it pointless for us to take a stand and not do that thing.

Although worth nothing that Norway are scheduled to close their last mine in 2025, essentially the opposite of what we are doing.

It's not a bad thing to have rent-free accommodation in Chico's head in this economic climate.
