Have we done a New years resolutions thread? on 10:28 - Jan 5 with 1060 views | geg1992 | Mine is to lose weight. I've always been overweight as I've always suffered with my MH and used food as a comfort. It took me a while to realise that. in June I was 129kgs By October I managed to get my weight down to 108kgs Now it's back up to 117kgs So I aim to be under 100kgs by May. It's only now that I've re-gained some weight that I realise how much better I felt before.

Ditto. Need to lose at least 5 stone. Doing it on my own, cut out all bread, eating loads of fruit, cut out potatoes, halving the portions, eating from a smaller plate. Exercise is a bit difficult as I have had total knee replacement, so a little restricted. But that will be done once more able. Good luck to everyone who are on the same journey.

Good luck with your weight loss journey. Bit of advice from losing 3 stone originally - potatoes are amazing for weight loss. They're the most filling food you can get and full of nutrients. It's usually what's added that makes them unhealthy. Few other tips from my experiences although everyone is different: I ate lots of bacon and eggs, but cut off the fat and didn't use oil, except 1 cal spray. I cut out most fruit and fruit juices as there's a lot of sugar. I swapped rice to cauliflower rice which isn't great but saves so many calories. I increased protein intake a lot and tried to limit carbs except potatoes. I just made sure to eat at least a 1000 calorie deficit each day, using My Fitness Pal App. [Post edited 5 Jan 2023 10:39]

Lose weight - aiming to lose 12kg. Finish the novel I’m writing and send it off - probably total rubbish but if you don’t try then you’ll never know. Limit my drinking to only when I go out - rarely go out. Limit my phone staring as my boys have commented that I look at it too much and they are very young. Setting a bad example. Most important one is for me is to try and be more patient with my boys. Before lockdown when one was a baby and the other a toddler I was really patient but lockdown seemed to have altered my patience. Oh, and I’ll try and not to act like a bell snd on here from time-to-time.

Seems like a TWTD fat club is needed, we could all work together and next time we have a beer we’ll be a pair of hunks eh!

My goal is to take some sort of action every (week)day towards setting up a freelance business.

Thank you. Hmmm, perhaps I need a rethink on my diet. I do like my fruit. I guess it just needs to be at sensible levels. Not keen on Cauliflower though. I’ll download that app. Sounds helpful. Cheers!

The fruit thing was just what worked for me. Everyone is different of course. Many people will continue to eat fruit because it helps ease the sweet cravings and it's still full of vitamins so still healthy. I was trying to lose weight quickly so I avoided most things with sugar. The app is very good - you can scan everything you eat or log your own with individual ingredients listed. It can also be used to track your exercise so is a handy tool for sure.

How/what/where did you start with your novel? Do you think it's any good? Are you hoping to become a successful and rich author or would you be happy just selling a few copies locally? I'd love to write a novel but I'm not confident that I have the discipline to do it.

Incredible progress! (I mean that genuinely and whole heartedly!) I can second for the my fitness pal app. I made consistent progress using the app and eating a calorie deficit, typically 500-1000 cals per day (want to lose 10kg and just be healthier more generally) but it all went Pete Tong when I did 2.5 weeks in USA. I find it so difficult to get back on the wagon once I have fallen off it.
