Would Everton let Broadhead drop down a level to progress his career? 12:48 - Jan 5 with 2733 views | MaySixth | Would take a hell of a negotiation - surely they would want him to stay in the Champ to keep progressing.

He is 24 and not exactly causing a stir in the championship, seems to have few if any suitors there, wants to go to Sunderland who don’t seem interested, we have made an offer it seems. A good season in league 1 would probably get him another crack at the championship so makes sense

This deal to me seems like one that should be very doable. As you say, Everton clearly don't have any further use for him so a permanent move and some cash for them is much better than him remaining on loan at Wigan. Doesn't seem like he has many suitors who would be willing to pay a fee for him so surely a top end League One club is his best bet. I wouldn't be against this one, versatile and did well at Sunderland. Maybe we'd still look at a more out and out number 9 if we were to sign him as well. Edit: His contract runs until summer 2024 so maybe they'd be willing to see if he has more value in the summer. That said, given their position in the league they could do with as much cash as possible at the moment. [Post edited 5 Jan 2023 13:29]

Who was the CB we had on loan from them when we went down? They still had him in the "promising youngster bracket2 when he was in his mid-20s as well.

That's him. Was going to say Pennington, but then doubted myself. Yes, Garbutt too.

At least Garbutt had some ability, Pennington is a bog standard League 1 central defender, just about capable of playing at the bottom of the Championship.

Not sure, might depend on Championship interest, although not many clubs in the Championship have money.

Not sure that has historically stopped clubs from spending it though.

Wasn't it Ancelotti that was asked in a press conference about Garbutt leaving after a lot of years at the club, and he had no idea who he was?
Would Everton let Broadhead drop down a level to progress his career? on 16:25 - Jan 5 with 1274 views | SE1blue | There was a time under Evans any potential new signing felt better than what we already had and I’d happily have seen us sign some called Bobby Crapboots, but I’m just not excited about Broadhead. Hoping this one just drifts pass as another piece of speculation and nothing more.
