Super headcold (not Covid) 13:38 - Feb 9 with 964 views | RobTheMonk | Has anyone else been struck down by this lingering headcold? Madge and I are both into the third week of it. We've tested for Covid and it was negative. Just enough to be a pain but not so much to require time off work. [Post edited 9 Feb 2023 13:41]

Super headcold (not Covid) on 14:00 - Feb 9 with 874 views | Freddies_Ears | MIne lasted 3 weeks of vicious cough with loads of greeny stuff coming out of nost & throat. Even after 3 weeks, still getting intermittent sore throat. Tested negative for Covid, every few days.

Pretty much what we have at the moment. Cough is on the way out, not as snotty as we were, but the lingering headache is there more often than not.

Where did you see that the tests weren't picking up Kraken? SB

Probably not the same thing as you're describing, but just wanted to say how important it is to get a flu jab if you can. I've had it due to just being old enough, and despite sleeping in the same bed I'm absolutely fine. Amazing really. She's gutted she's not old enough to get the jab. Had my 4th Covid jab today as well.

Good article here that suggests in some cases the infection rate is so fast that you can miss it with testing "As Rossman explains: “It's not necessarily that the test can’t pick up the virus, but that sometimes if the virus replicates really fast — like this variant might — sometimes that means the whole infection process goes so quickly in you that you only have that peak of virus that's high enough to detect for maybe six hours.” Unfortunately, a shorter infection time doesn’t necessarily mean the time you’re ill is any shorter. And while the infection time with highly transmissible variants is lower on average, this is only an average. It may take a week or longer before you exhibit symptoms and spread the virus, or it could take a day." https://www.sciencefocus.com/news/covid-variant-xbb15-kraken/

She does know she could've still had the jab. Costs about a tenner from any pharmacy, got mine at Tesco like I do most years - had flu in the past and £10 is an absolute bargain not to feel like complete death for a week.
