For those who like their geeky football tactical analysis then this short video is quite good.

Thanks for posting this.

Top set piece team in the league! Quite a contrast to last year.

Poll: Right now, who would you rather have as Prime Minister?

Personally I'm really glad that "multiple players look to draw in the press but then break in a fast instance". And I definitely agree that "this is when the opposition is brought onto their own team".

I mean, I suppose it might mean something. But surely just, bring back Gary Lineker, no?

The Bolton boss at the weekend was talking about negative triggers. No clue.

Interesting that Shrewsbury are second in that table.

I had no idea how to interpret that table. The numbers and positions seemed more or less random to me.

Think that means when the attacking team passes backwards or sideways (negatively), the defending team takes it as their cue (trigger) to press.

That's great. Educational (for me anyway) and reassuring to hear such a thoroughly positive assessment from an analyst from outside of the club, which confirms why we are right to be so excited about where the club is, and where and how far it is capable of going under this management and ownership.

It’s a very good analysis from the outside and a good way to promote what’s happening outside of Suffolk and League One. So definitely good on those terms.

But didn’t really tell me anything that I didn’t know from watching us and seeing how we’ve developed/tweaked the system over the past year or so.

Does anyone know if there is any analysis that talks about how sides play against that kind of system or where the difficulties come in? Not to pick holes in what we’re doing but to better understand how and when we’ve struggled and perhaps where we’re heading along this path, hopefully in the Championship. If someone can apply that bigger outside perspective it would be quite interesting to read/watch.

And I know I can google this or ask ChatGPT but sorting the wheat from the utter chaff takes time.

It won't stop people shouting 'get rid' every time we pass sideways!

But we need Warnock and punting it? Or so I read after the Bristol Rovers game

I guess it is those who don't get drawn into our traps, i.e. when we sit on the ball to draw them out just don't get drawn out to allow the 'aggressive vertical passing to happen' by sitting really deep

Mogga alluded to Sunderland beating Norwich by not sitting deep and letting them play in front of them but pressing higher instead.

So I guess it comes down to finding different ways to create or expose weaknesses in defence by moving them around. And simultaneously defences finding ways of pressuring attacks into giving up the ball in dangerous or at least midfield areas.

One thing I have noticed is that nobody seems anything like as concerned with holding onto the ball in possession as long as you’re trying to pull defences out of position. That seems a major change from the mantra of a decade or so ago. If the ball isn’t moving quickly enough or far enough to stretch defences then teams don’t seem to care.

I think game state plays a big part in things as well, and why we need early goals because it pulls teams out of position when trying to get back into the game and plays more into our hands - it's noticeable how little teams try and chase games against us even when winning 2-0 because all it does is make them more likely to concede.

Seems as though only real way to play against us for 75% of division is to try and get set pieces etc.

With last paragraph, I think teams like us are quite happy to 'rest' on the ball as well, to slow game down and regain our puff as and when we need it but staying in control of game
