So we've had best ever managers... 15:42 - Sep 7 with 3536 viewsChampionsofInnsbruck

With the worse ones all being exclusively Marcus Evans appointments. What about best and worse ME era players 11s?

My best has to be..
Bartosz Białkowski
Luke Chambers
Tommy Smith
Christoph Berra
Aaron Cresswell
Paul Anderson
Cole Skuse
Celina
Teddy Bishop
Daryl Murphy
David McGoldrick

Worst...
Will Norris
Jordan Spence
James Bree
Matthew Pennington
Callum Elder
Simon Dawkins
Josh Harrop
Luke Thomas
Jordan Roberts
Oliver Hawkins
Keanan Bennetts

How do you write a 'worst of Evans' list and manage to exclude Jonathan Douglas and Paul Taylor?

Because we had significantly worse players than them during his ownership? Douglas was a better central midfielder for us than say even a Nolan was, at least in the Championship, as Nolan wasn't good enough to be in the football league let alone the Championship whereas Douglas was just past it.

Also Taylor was a better forward than a ton we had here during that time, Ellis Harrison, Quaner, Troy Parrott... Aaron Drinan ...

God we were spoiled.

Simpler, more basic times.

But they featured far more and in Taylor's case came with a big fee as well.

Bit unfair to put Luke Thomas in there, who was going through some severe mental health issues at the time.

You're right, we should give him a pass and put him on the best list instead...

It is possible to completely separate the on-field and off-field and it's not a personal attack on the fella. He just was a flop whilst at Town. Fairly similar situation to Sancho at United regarding the MH aspect (and how desperate the situation is/was), it doesn't mean he isn't a failure at the club.

Worst player in the ME era - Dobra. I don't get it, why did he ever get game time whilst we were in L1.

Literally no one is saying that. Just that he doesn't deserve to be on a 'worst ever' because of his health issues.

At the exact same time, no one said worse ever. It literally was a pile of players categorised into Best and Worse. Certainly we can skip Thomas and leave him out altogether because of his situation but the OP has put them in worse which is fair enough. I wouldn't put him there because there is a least 30 players more worth of a worst tag but he wasn't a success either. It's akin to Ulrich Le Pen ffs.

The fact that I am typing this just makes me want the football to return - this forum is one step away from being a meme with some of the posts. We are all so bored we have about 20 ranking topics.

The subjectivity of rankings in general means it's just a pointless exercise dealing in controversial opinions and bs.

EDIT: Also, to be fair, I didn't realise it was one of TWTDs infamous trolls posting the OP. I apologise.

And Nathan Ellington. A good shout out to Ingimarsson in terms of pointlessness too.

Trouble is, we’ll be here until we’re all retired listing the dross we had during the Evans era.

The standard on trolling on here at the moment is piss-poor.

It's either uber-weak budgies trying to Express Concerns or right wing loons offering mad takes.

Even Chico can't be arsed at the moment and is just recycling old Hitchens(P) material.

It was such a terrible time, I genuinely can't recall some of these players who played for us in that era. I'm like... 'who?'

Whilst I don't necessarily agree with the OP on Norris being included, at the best part of £3m he wasn't exactly good value. A technically limited and bang average Championship midfielder really. If we're talking about worst signings rather than worst players then the fee has to be taken into consideration. When you're scratching around for free transfers from far flung places, you're always going to have more misses than hits. When you're spending a decent wedge, you expect a bit more quality.

That worst 11 defence is missing Malacyzk, Ingimarsson and Fryers. My word, imagine those three in a defence..

Didn't think Jordan Roberts was awful.

The rest of that frontline though - bloody hell lol.

If you were doing a thread about players who were very much worse at ITFC than they were at a previous club then Ellington would certainly be near the top of the list. He really was a very good player for Wigan, although that was a few years before he came to us.

Norris should be on there for that goal ‘celebration’ alone. Not fit to wear the shirt.

I am not arguing that Taylor wasn't a bad signing, although in terms of worst performing players under ME, forwards such as Best, Ellington, Ebanks-Blake, Bajner and co were far worse than Taylor was in an Ipswich shirt.
