For all smug posts - no-one else wants to read how you correctly predicted the flip of a coin. The rest of us are too busy celebrating...

I doubt there’ll be many of those, as nobody really knew what was going on (and still don’t). If the rumours about him staying are true (still not confirmed btw), I’m looking forward to seeing the bedwetters all reversing. Some people have embarrassed themselves over the last week.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

To be fair, dear old footers always had faith.

That some of y'all doubted me is disappointing.

But people hated Jesus because he told the truth as well.

I hated Jesus because he played for Man City. I didn’t pay a lot of attention to his sermons, er I mean press conferences.

I've already seen people digging out their old posts... The fact they had no (genuine) idea what was going on is what makes it so amusing.

The people questioning the man don't deserve him.

No I won't say I told you so if the latest rumours appear to be factual.

I'd simply urge everyone to have more faith, trust & patience in the club & McKenna, than has clearly been the case the last couple of weeks, and during the slight dips in form of both the last two seasons.

The Premier league is going to be a bumpy ride with way more press speculation on every aspect, from stories about unhappy players wanting out, to the manager one game away from the sack, because we have upwards of 50 journalists attending every game now, paid to write something about Ipswich, they don't care if the story is merely speculation, as long as its copy as long as it fulfils their brief to drive clicks to their media outlet site, they're happy.

We need to be aware that not every story were going to read is true, and is often merely supposition.

Yes and I always have done.

We've got a really deep squad and over the next 10 weeks is when that comes into play.

Yes we drew a bunch of "ought to win" games but we kept picking up points and what's more it didn't dent our goal difference.

Today was a great result. COYB

My take:
KMcK is staying at Town for another year (minimum), though most likely just a year.
Ashton and the owners have known this for a while.
KMcK isn't leaving Town in the lurch, Ashton has a whole year to find a replacement for the 2025/06 season in the Premier League.
KMcK's next club is ManUre, and they are fully briefed on KMcK's plan.
Brighton was used to drum up interest in KMcK and increase his price.
Chelsea was used to further increase his stock.
KMcK can walk away from Town having taken them to the Premier and in a healthy position where we have a year to find a replacement. KMcK's commitment to ManUre is untarnished too.
Town need not panic about the season ahead from a management point of view.

Always made it clear I thought he would stay and that people actually needed to show McKenna a bit more respect.

Why shouldn’t he speak to other clubs and be interested in what they have to say. It never meant he was going to leave. I still think he’d take the United job if offered it but can’t begrudge him that. McKenna is just not a Chelsea man, he far too much integrity for them. Brighton was interesting for him clearly but I think he decided he wants to follow through the project here that take the risk of going to Brighton who may struggle to push on much further

My Turn:
What an ungrateful entitled lot we seem to have as fans. by wkj 25 May 2024 8:10
Whoever knew being promoted into the premier league was the true meaning behind "Be Careful What You Wish For".

As a minow in the big pond we're going to have this kind of rumour and innuendo all the time whenever someone over performs. I don't think some of the fans who have dreamed of being in the Prem ever stopped to think how much more pressure and stress would come once our names start bringing in rumours.

Honourable mention to AI:
I asked AI to write a 250 word story about the current management debacle... by wkj 24 May 2024 18:02

In the heart of the footballing battlegrounds, Kieran McKenna, the determined manager of Ipswich Town Football Club (ITFC), faced a relentless siege from rival clubs Brighton, Manchester United, and Chelsea. Each vied to lure him away from his beloved team with promises of glory and riches.

Brighton launched their assault first, tempting McKenna with visions of Premier League conquest. But McKenna stood firm, his loyalty to ITFC unwavering as he rebuffed their advances.

Manchester United, with their storied history and colossal resources, followed suit, offering McKenna a return to his former club as an assistant coach. Yet, McKenna's resolve remained unyielding. He knew his place was with ITFC, guiding them through the stormy seas of football's lower divisions.

Then came Chelsea, armed with the allure of managerial prestige and European dreams. They sought to sway McKenna with promises of continental conquest. But McKenna, with the strength of a lion, refused to abandon his post.

Amidst the chaos of negotiations, a different battle raged behind the scenes. McKenna's agent, Tripoli, once a staunch ally, now saw only the glittering allure of bigger contracts and brighter lights. Their clash was epic, a struggle of wills that threatened to tear apart the very fabric of McKenna's loyalty.

Yet, in the end, McKenna emerged victorious. Through unwavering determination and steadfast loyalty, he fended off the advances of giants and secured his place as ITFC's leader. And as the dust settled, McKenna stood tall, a beacon of resilience in the tumultuous world of football management.

Incorrect and as I said all along, it was plain common sense it was an agent move. KM to Brighton was a non-sensical sideways step no matter what some delirious folk think about Brighton. KM to Chelsea was a non-starter and he’s not an upgrade on Potch (neither is Maresca). KM to Man Utd was also a non-starter because he’s not ready yet and although Ten Hag has had a poor trophy winning season, he’s not an upgrade in Ten Hag at this point in time.

All this points to agents leaking nonsense to drive up his contract offer and line their own pockets as I said from day one. No guess work, just common sense.

Although not with football, I have worked in and around agents before, and it sounds like you may have sone experience here too. A lot came across as textbook. That said, I was worried they might land McKenna an offer too good to be refused - but KM's integrity? Never in question for me - the agent's integrity? Well, an honest agent to the public is rarer to find than an honest politician

Dabbled with a new one around Xmas and cost us a few points so went back to the "promoted" one and of course
all returned to normal service but of course i felt anew one was required after the end of the season...I was wrong but all is now restored to pre Sunderland away!

Hope this helps

I’m once moved from a few agents but have worked the media side before. Lots of Brighton and United mates reliably ITK too. If we assume his agent is on a minimum of 5% finders fee, even that as a base is a sweet deal on a £5m a year contract (if true).

Well worth a story leak . Easiest money ever when you have loose broadsheet journalists under so much pressure to pump out stories with seemingly little background checking these days ala Jacob Steinberg.

Or just listened to Aston’s interview after the end of the season. Although in the spirit of that interview, nothing’s been announced yet so let’s just see what happens when it happens.
