Phil and Gav, the time has come to introduce some kind of filtering mechanism to this forum based on post votes. 4 divisions of people based on popularity, reason, good humour, common sense and intellect or insight.
Some might call it elitist but id call it good for mental health. I think I’d rather be in a smaller pool of like minded, sensible folk and fear relegation if I didn’t maintain a standard than this sea of noise and nonsense.
The last 2-weeks really have been quite torturous on here and I’m all up for looking for ways to improve this experience. Hopefully it’d put some checks and balances in place and make people think twice before posting. |  | | |  |

This isnt about Phil Ham, the guy should get a knighthood for contributions to the Town however TWTD needs a PL level 2024 makeover. I don’t know about the solution you propose in the OP but definitely I support easier usability and anything that drives up quality and user experience of the forum and platform overall. I’ve used it lot more in recent years.
There is a significant amount (of utter blox) you have to wade through in the forum to get to people with considered contributions worth reading.
The forum is infected with people that start the same topic thread, they don’t appear to read anything or add to other current threads but rather start their own thread like it’s X or their own view is so important it’s a must read, more likely the ten thousand other threads are not easy to find because there is no theming/limited categorisation applied.
The forum is infected by people contributing less than 5 word responses, again it’s not X.
The threads are not easy to navigate back and forwards through the pages to refind useful contributions nor back and forwards in time.
The forum is not optimised for phones.
There filtering out of characters, which I use extensively has improved experience but it isn’t easy to use.
The up down thread system doesn’t really seem to help promote/ de promote the contribution.
Many long threads end up way off topic and it’s not easy to build a clear picture of the response to the OP before people start going massively off topic.
I’m sure the list of potential backlog pain points/improvement is longer!

I do use this and it’s vastly improved the quality of contributions in the threads I see but some of the other usability points stand. | |
