Sarmiento and Stansfield 17:41 - Jul 5 with 3111 views | Nutkins_Return | Really hope we get Philogene over the line and incredible if we get that Greek striker. I would still really want us to get Sarmiento done. He's going to be some player and has been terrific for Ecuador. I do wonder if we might still go in for Jay Stansfield. Think he would be comfortably sub £10 million and whilst their manager has said he is likely to be considered as part of plans next season o think they would sell. Phil heard anything on Stansfield? Or interest cooled?

Sarmiento and Stansfield on 17:55 - Jul 5 with 2808 views | burnbudgiesburn | I'm in the same boat - re Sarmiento. I'm surprised given we signed Hutchinson permanently that we haven't heard more of one of our loans being taken up with Jeremy. He improved so much towards the end of the season having had time to work with McKenna. Basically on the same trajectory as Omari had the season had another 6 months to run. Skilful, quick and nimble player who was not afraid to put a tackle in. I appreciate he did his best work when he came on as sub. I'm assuming the option we had to take him back on loan (if it ever existed that is) has expired by now. Stansfield, I think we'd have taken a look in the champ but we have bypassed that now.

Doesn’t look like he’d make the step up currently.
Sarmiento and Stansfield on 19:36 - Jul 5 with 2129 views | Westcountryblue | As already mentioned in the thread, Stansfield is neat and tidy, but i don't think he possesses any individual qualities that make him Premier League. Sarmiento would be a good player to have on the bench. He blows a bit hot & cold at times and needs to work on his ball retention, but he can create moments of magic that win games. I have a feeling we might be targeting a higher level of loan player though. Realistically, we are a very inviting proposition, away from the bright lights of the city, garanteed minutes and the McKenna development factor !
Sarmiento and Stansfield on 19:43 - Jul 5 with 2058 views | USA | Personally I think the Southampton goal is clouding the judgement on Sarmiento. I don’t think I would re-sign him personally although I admit I’ve not seen the Ecuador games/perfomances.

Sort of agree, I think we can get better quality now. BUT if we do go in for him, I assume KM sees him having a higher ceiling, in which case I’d love to see him back!

Much as I enjoyed his performances for us, they always seemed a little chaotic to me. I don't think anyone knew what he was doing, including him. His goal against Saints was a little like that. The most typical example I can think of was at the end of the home game vs Watford where he had the ball in midfield, but wasn't at all in control of it, was just chasing it through the middle when that Watford fella just wellied it from in front of him and nearly scored from close to the halfway line.

I agree. We have stepped up a level on our targets now. Hutchinson still fits the bill because he has improved so much whilst with us. I don't think Stansfield does but would be happy to be proved wrong if we did sign him and he was good enough. Moore and Sarmiento would be more interesting. We might or might not see them as the right level.
