In Vegas this week…. 13:31 - Jul 17 with 4767 views | ITFC_Forever | It’s a mad, bonkers and insane place. Every time you think you’ve seen something amazing / bonkers / bewildering, you walk in to the next place and see something that tops it. It’s a full on assault on the senses, most of it good, but you can see how it can eat people alive and spit them out again. Off to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam today… it’s 5.30am here at the moment, but we’ve got an early start for the trip.

No, not at all. Went to Downtown yesterday and we were warned not to go off the beaten track. We stuck to Fremont Street and had a great time… a different vibe to the more sanitised strip, but didn’t feel intimidated or threatened at all.

In Vegas this week…. on 13:58 - Jul 17 with 3791 views | ITFCson | Jealous! I got back last month for what was my 11th visit - once stayed for 3 months straight! Bloody expensive although a few hidden gems for great value can be found. Blondies and Ocean 1 both in Planet Hollywood can get beers for $3. Tip - Don't get a photo with a showgirl unless you are prepared to pay top dollar for it!
I've been about a dozen times.... on 14:07 - Jul 17 with 3733 views | Bloots | ....over the last 25 or so years, but not since covid. It's changed immeasurably over that period but it's still an amazing place. Prices have increased massively, specifically food and drink. Unfortunately the days of sitting on a penny slot machine spending $5 and getting a constant stream of booze for a buck a go are gone now! You can still find deals, but you have to seek them out. I wish I was there now.

Nice one, we’re staying next to Planet Hollywood (at the Paris), so we’ll give it a look.

They still have some old-school coin-operated 25 cent one-armed-bandits in Circus Circus which I took $40 out of after putting $5 in. And got free drinks in the Golden Nugget while we were having a flutter yesterday - took $75 out of a machine there after investing $20 as well. Also been rinsed a couple of times though to be fair.

....book a table at Mon Ami Gabi and wait to get a seat on the terrace......it will be a wait! It's the best spot on the strip for people watching and they do a reasonable set menu for lunch (from memory). Decent french onion soup, warm baguettes and waiters with either a fake french accent or a broad NY one. Lovely.

In Vegas this week…. on 14:14 - Jul 17 with 3649 views | Radlett_blue | I spent an evening in old Las Vegas in the 1980s, when the ubiquitous gaming was the only real reason to go. However, you could spend a night at the $2 blackjack tables & get more in free drinks than you were losing at the table. Disneyland for adults now, far from its origins as a somewhat dubious "city of sin", but something there for everyone, although usually at a considerable cost. Spent a few days there with the family (2 older teenage children) & didn't gamble a cent, but plenty to do - Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Atomic Museum, Mob Museum etc.

The Sphere is worth a visit but time it so you get there 30mins later than the advertised start time (if poss) - there's a lot of time staring at some AI enabled robots, if not. Found the 'mercans a bit annoying of an evening - can't just sit with a drink and have a laugh between themselves. Proper Try Hard behaviour and way too much whooping and stuff. #gettingold EDIT: AVOID WAHLBURGERS [Post edited 17 Jul 2024 14:24]

Can driver from airport to hotel ex-USAAF Bentwaters and had been to Town games Hottest place I can recall, even after 40+ temp in Spain & Colombia. Don't tenner much else about Vegas We did Grand Canyon with Scenic Airlines, kept followings so people got a good view of both sides, causing half the passengers to throw up. Those that didn't, including me, got a certificate at the end of the journey. Need to go back....

...old school, although they have given it a lick of paint and cleaned the carpets I think. Downtown is much better value, the closest you'll find on the strip is Casino Royale, they used to to cheap bottles of Michelob in there, a couple of bucks a go. Nice sticky carpet too. Basically the closer you are to the middle the more everything costs. Ellis Island, behind Ballys (Horseshoe?) is decent value, onsite brewery, cheaper drinks and gambling. Worth the short walk.

You’re right next to where the World Series main event poker is currently being played where the winner will get $10’000000. There is a great outdoor karting track not to far away if that’s your thing. It’s called Speed Vegas. Can also ride any super car around a track. Another tip if you were not aware is Uber is way better than taxis. Cheaper, more efficient, nicer cars and on the whole more pleasant drivers. Oh and north or south premium outlets. Designer gear for ridiculously cheap prices

I’ve seen the WSOP signage in the hotel, there’s a whole section for them. Looking to do the south outlets tomorrow. Used the bus yesterday, that was much cheaper, but took a while. Love a bit of karting, but not sure I’ll convince the wife.

...in Vegas is better than the one in Rome, less tourists. The casino in Biarritz is a bit crap and there's far too many "surfer dudes" there hanging out at The Rose & Crown or The Victoria.. A few nice restaurants though. I once gatecrashed a Bastille Day party in Biarritz, that was fun. I also like The Basque Bar, the owner is a massive scary French bear type character. Sicily has too many Mafiosi, they've all been chased out of Vegas.

“Vegas is better than the one in Rome” This is honestly the worst thing you have ever said on here. I don’t know what to do.

Yes! We ate at the Heart Attack Grill last night… there was a few guys got their spanking for not finishing their dinner. Think my wife was somewhat surprised by the dining experience. Nothing but the best for her…

In Vegas this week…. on 16:57 - Jul 17 with 2596 views | Reus30 | Spent part of my honeymoon there. Some amazing memories. We did the big wheel and had a booze cart to ourselves for 30 minutes or so. I got to just before the end and the bar lady gave us triple shot spirits and mixers and she got a decent tip for being a legend. Stumbled back to the hotel mind but it was bloody good fun. I love an English/Scottish breakfast but American breakfast is just unreal. Coffee coffee coffee, pancakes for days, steak!!!!, eggs for days too and then some weird potato nonsense but so good. Take me back anytime.
In Vegas this week…. on 18:29 - Jul 17 with 2466 views | floridablue | I was married there 20 years ago. Not in the chapel, but the Red Rock Canyon west of the strip. Looked at buying a home in Henderson a little south but in the end chose Florida.

Haha, for some reason I assumed you were with mates. Still a great place with the missus. Absinthe is by far the best show I’ve seen there. Saw Copperfield this year which was decent. Also watched Tape Face which wasn’t so good.
