Napoli had £8 million bid rejected. If he's available up to £12-13 million we should be in for him. That would be good business at his age profile. Can forgive the Norwich games as was Loan...

Didn't he have a falling out with the Norwich fans? Make it doubly funny if he came here and tore it up!

He did in a Brandon Williams kind of way! Not sure how good he actually is in fairness

If Conte and Napoli are interested, I very much doubt he’d pick here.

Scotland always so much better when he plays. Good player. Small though.

I am not trying to be facetious but he's a Humphreys upgrade. They both can play in defensive midfield but neither have the physical strength or aggression to be naturals in that role. A good player though with a high ceiling.

Taking my Ipswich specs off he's miles ahead of Humphreys.

Humphreys has to go out and play a season and we will see how he can progress!

He is miles ahead but I do think they are similar. No one seems to know what their best position is. Both can play as a full back and as a defensive midfielder but both are probably best as a number 8 which is a position we do not use. That is why Gilmour is a no for me. Not because he is not good enough but because he does not fit our system.

Yes that's fair. I do want Humphreys to have a pathway as well and nail down a position. For me he's a midfielder. A number 8. He just needs to go and play 40+ games in that role.

Billy Gilmour for £10-12 million at 23 just makes sense to me. Quality player. Probably only goes up in value.

Of the clubs promoted into The Championship I think both Derby and Portsmouth will survive and either would be a good loan move for Cam. I expect Oxford will struggle and be relegated so I don't think that will be a good move. I would edge towards Derby as they mostly play a 5-3-2 formation which would suit him better. Other options would be good Scottish Prem clubs like Hibs or Aberdeen. Birmingham is another possibility. He would be a regular there and they are quite possibly the best team to be relegated in the last decade and I do not expect them to be caught in the same slog that many relatively big clubs relegated to League One like ourselves did. A good move I think.

Why would his level be Championship? He started one game and was sub twice last season. Just because we've got promoted it doesn't mean our kid's loans are the league below. Ŵhen we were League One, we got loanees from PL clubs. Id say his best bet is L1 so he's got more chance to nail down a starting spot.
Cam Humphreys needs games and not more stting on the bench or being a non-playing squad member.

Since your reply I edited the post and suggested Birmingham. Do you think that would work for him?

He's a good player but doesn't have the physicality or aggression for a McKenna-ball midfielder so I can't see it

Not sure he's suited to a Paul Warne team. And Derby may struggle.

I'd like to see him at a top end side where he can gain confidence, so probably league one. If he excels we can always recall him in January and send him up higher.

On the same subject, Baggott needs a championship loan.
