Sheff Wed to eject fans wearing fake shirts. 08:59 - Aug 11 with 3333 viewsITFC_Forever

Chansiri can’t keep to the background, can he?

I would think the % of people wearing fake shirts is tiny.

How are they going to check?

How are they going to throw anyone out?

How are they going to police the old originals people own?

How are they going to legislate for the their own fake shirts of old brands they release?

He’s a lunatic, and shows they are still as big a basket case as ever, and fluked appointing a decent manager.

That’s as stupid as booting fans out if they are not wearing an official SW shirt. Surely people have the right to wear exactly what they like, within the bounds of decency.

The bloke is a nut job and the sooner they’re rid of him the better.

In fairness, fake shirts are an offence, and one which takes money from the club. So it is not the same, and I can see the reasoning (even if I dont agree with it).

Clubs bring this on themselves with shirt pricing. The England shirt is an even better example.

Wearing a fake shirt is not an offence. This is outrageous and no justification for it whatsoever. Someone is paying the club to watch that match and should be able to do so wearing whatever clothes they like.

The price of football is ridiculous and football kit prices are completely unacceptable. I buy my kits legit Ipswich stuff but I wouldn't consider buying the legit England kits anymore as it's disgusting the price they are charging.

Many people I can understand simply can't afford it and this is on football clubs/associations. Double punch in the gut.

We have 3 new shirts a season bout 180 pounds I buy on Web sons grand children 13 quid each as next season another 3 will come out I can't justify the money I pay 500 for a season ticket. Each to their own in my view.

Manufacturing, distribution and selling the shirt when not licensed to do so, is the offence. That's where he needs to focus his energies. Though if there was no demand then nobody would manufacture, distribute or sell them. So maybe consider why fans of the club knowingly make choices that cost their club revenue.

It's not illegal to wear them in the same way it's not illegal to take drugs but football clubs are private businesses

If the terms of the conditions of the ticket include a dress code, I assume you are violating it essentially?

Matter of time until Chansiri uses this as a reason to attack his own fans and to not put any more money into the club.

"Why should I put money in when our supporters cannot be trusted to do their part"

Or words to that effect.

I had a typo in there, I meant not illegal to wear them

That's not the issue there, if it violates the terms and conditions of the Sheffield Wednesday tickets then yes they can eject fans from the stadium

Wow, fans also pay for tickets and possibly food and drink etc within the ground, he's kind of shooting himself in the foot here, I do understand his thinking, but he hasn't thoroughly thought this one through..

Just remember wearing a fake shirt in many European countries is an offence, as possession of fake clothing is an offence.

If you cannot afford the shirt don't buy it. Honestly, you won't die if you don't buy it.

Also Sheff W with have rights on their name/badge etc, so if it is being worn without imagine rights paid to the club, they lose out on money. Same as any Town fan who wears a fake shirt the club is missing out on revenue.

I bet the SW fans wearing fake shirts are the ones shouting loudest about the club not spending more on players.

If the offence is wearing an unofficial shirt, I would imagine many, if challenged, would just remove their shirt and go topless instead.

I just don't know who would police it, I think it's just a scare policy, first day of the season, lovely weather, thousands of shirts...it's going to take a big team of people of spotters and imagine the hassle too..

We're talking about UK here though.

This is a weird take. You really think selling kids England kits for over £100 quid when they cost a few quid to make is ok? I can personally afford to buy them for my kids but I think it's pretty dreadful how it's going and I personally think it's awful some kids can't have them so for that reason I have no issue with parents buying the fake ones nowadays. They are basically identical and fraction of the cost which tells you everything you need to know about the issue.

But Ipswich don't charge £100 a shirt, they've kept the prices relatively low. The more fake shirts the less likely it is to remain that way I suspect.

Personally I've got no problem with people who genuinely can't afford them getting fakes, but that doesnt apply to the majority of people I know who've bought them.
