So. Just imagining we have a pot of 1billion. 70 million. What ever. 17:13 - Aug 13 with 2396 viewsFrimleyBlue

Just randomly using that figure based on the worth of the actual investors involved in the club.

How can you make the most of that in the prem under the new financial rules..

Can they sponsor a stand for an extreme amount of money for example

Or is it just that their funds can be used on training ground etc instead.

Just would like to understand if having rich owners is helpful on the pitch or if you're still very restricted because of the new ffp stuff.

"Spend, spend, spend" (sorry, couldn't resist that infamous quote from one of the first lotto £1m winners).

Academy investment, if they're allowed? would be a good one.

Any sponsorships have to be on an 'arms length' basis, i.e at the £ level you could get from elsewhere. Inflated sponsorships is one of the charges levied against Man City.

Practically, it doesn't help us on the pitch as we still have the same financial constraints under FFP. Can spend what they like on infrastructure though so all good for the stadium/training ground.

Hope we don't fall foul of FFP ourselves going forward but, based on the Man City model, spend as much as possible and then fight the charges based on having made so many violations...

At the moment not much, but I don't think the current financial and sustainability rules will be in place much longer as there is a lot of opposition in Premier League ownership.

The Man City case could blow absolutely everything up though so may be irrelevant come 2025!

That quote was from years before the lotto - early sixties I think - after a win on the football pools.
She did go on to blow the lot and ended up a mess.

You can’t and it would be ridiculous to think these rich people are going to throw all their wealth at a football club even if the rules allowed for that.

Newcastle have found that out. (Even though their owners want to throw money at it they can’t)

It look as if an additional 15 million of equity has come into the club in the shape of new shares but that’s it.

And the guy who owns the basketball team bought them for 500 mil and that’s now worth 2 billion on their current market estimates. So clearly he sees us as potential to invest in and sell on one day in the way game changer do.

I think this is all a case of it gives us a base but not some financial river of money.

No need to worry about that FFP is aimed at minimising the effect of Sportswashing and money laundering that has made the Prem uncompetitive. The stable door was wide open and had been partially closed to maximise the chances of the worst offenders - and reduce the impact of oil states such as Saudi Arabia or dodgy money from elsewhere joining the party.

As something akin to a Ponzi scheme Town won’t be in the business of selling hotels to themselves, selling a ground they don’t own to themselves or spending too much on ground development Marcus Evan’s made off with the best bit of the training ground so there’s a bit of a problem there too.

If anything Town are at the opposite end of the spectrum - profiteering owners greatly exaggerating the value of their acquisition, gambling on financial turkeys not coming home to roost - and someone taking McKenna off their hands before £5million a year becomes unsustainable - ie next year if Town go down. Any ‘improvements’ to the ground, training facilities etc will be closely scrutinised so their cost/value can only be exaggerated exactly as everyone is doing.

Ah, the old 'they don't even own their own ground' trope.

You really do give yourself away.

Also, didn't they buy off the land Evans purchased at the training ground?
