There were a few popping up around 10:30 but no more than 5 or 6. Always a few that re-emerge for the 20 mins or so after it initially 'sells out'.

Glad to see it got down to a reasonable level.

Probably going to be the case all season isn't it? Or until enough 15+ pointers have moved to 20+ so that the same thing happens at 20+.

I believe Prem teams have an agreement cap which I believe of £30 for away tickets whilst the home fans could pay significantly more though and id there the risk of being removed from the stadium on top of paying a higher entry fee

exactly right, which is one of the reasons away tickets limited to 3K and no club willing to give more. Which is a bit annoying in some of the larger stadiums.

Going to be basically impossible if you're under 15 to either get a ticket or move out of that tier, it seems.

Yep. Being stuck on 14 is excruciating. Oh well, there are far more deserving people than me and the boy. Will have to hope a ballot comes in at some point.

As someone who lives in East Sussex and knows a few Brighton season ticket holders this is the option I have taken, it'll probably be the one chance I get to see Ipswich play live this season, sadly.

Suspect that's very likely but 15+ is a fairly low threshold when you consider you would have 10 points for having been a SB member last year and this without having gone to a game. So we're selling out at the point where you went to between 5 and 9 away games (out of 25) last season. We're not selling out at the 'go every week' stage.

However, those who went to less than 5 games away last season, or have only purchased SB memberships this season, look to be relying on the ballot unless demand for tickets drops as the season goes on. That does seem particularly harsh on those who have only joined this year and perhaps the club might have mentioned how hard it would be for them to get a foot on the ladder. Problem is that the gap to that first rung is going to get wider.

We're stuck on 14 points and at this rate have no hope of increasing it, in which time the gap just gets bigger and bigger.

I don't understand how we did not have any problem getting away tickets in the 10+ and 15+ band last year yet now even with almost double the allocation of 3k tickets are now being 'prioritied out'

We have been season ticket holders, members and consistently attended 4-5 away games for the past 30 years. Not local games or just the big clubs either!
According to some, apparently true loyal fans are only those who possess enough money and optimum health to go to every single away game.

Whilst this does not apply to a vast amount of those in the higher point brackets, no one can say there are not glory hunters even in those with enough points...
and we're now being pushed out of our LONG TERM, CONSISTENT loyalty and commitment to our beloved club by these so called fans joining in the last two years and accumulating the points. I totally understand they have allowed those who have attended more games to have priority but exactly how long have some of these been 'loyal' - 2/3 years? 🤷🏽‍♂️

Maybe some of them may back out and let us get to a lowly cup away game to allow us some points. Us loyal fans, we don't just go to the big games!

As someone stuck in the 10-14 bracket, this is a little frustrating. Lets see what happens for the Southampton game the week after, I suspect there are a number of people who'll choose one over the other with the Brighton game being the more appealing.

Yeah that's true enough, and unfortunately the way of it means it's always going to be 'harsh' on some people but not really anything anyone can do about that.

Did think the club might change up how they do away cup ties to give more people a chance to a) get to an away match and b) add to their points tally, as those matches are either going to be less desirable (Wimbledon away on a weekday evening) or at a ground where competition rules would grant us a bigger allocation than a league match would so no-one would really miss out on a ticket.

The shame really is long term people who are under 15 points (or at that level but lose out in the scramble for tickets) get frozen out for seasons after this, although maybe if that happens the number of ballot tickets increases, but then I guess so will the number of people applying for it so the club don't win there either!

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

It's a tough one to take for those on 10-14. I guess had it been selling out at 20+, then we'd be saying the same about those on 15-19.

Really unlucky but it's a fair system at the end of the day. No doubt I imagine someone will raise it at the next fans forum though - I would be interested to hear the response because like another reply has said, the gap will bridge further and further and there will be no middle ground.

As I said in another post, we have had season tickets, memberships and have consistently have gone to 4 - 5 games per season for the past 30+ years. Difference between someone having 10 points (for technically just a membership this year and last year) and 14 points (with 4 away games points) is extremely harsh.

My dad is inadvertently prioritied out now too. He could have technically had a chance of a ticket as he has 15 points. But this season cannot go on his own due his age and health and needs someone to accompany him. My son and I have 14 points (we had to return our tickets for a game last year due to illness) and would have been in 15+ with him 🤦🏽 I feel for him as he's been going since the 1950s and the one taking me to football games week in week out since the late 70s! 😢

In my case the loss of the 22-23 League 1 points has set me back relatively to others as I struggled to get to away games at the start of last season so didn't manage quite as many as the season before. I'm ok at the moment through but it does feel like an arms race.

Agree that it is harsh on people who would go to that 4-5 games a season, regardless of division, but it's difficult to see a better solution - other than taking more seasons into account for allocation. Maybe the novelty wears off a bit once we've been to all the big clubs, and got hammered, a couple of times.

This would be a good solution to be able to accumulate needed points and would reward those who have long term CONSISTENT loyalty. It is such a shame. We have never missed out on our 5 away games we are reasonably able to do with our circumstances, not ever in 30+ years until now.

Despite our 30+ years of long term consistent loyalty we technically could, as you say, be frozen out in future seasons due to, dare I say it, to a younger, fitter and richer generation! (I know not all of these 'top pointers' are 2-3 season glory hunters 😉 but there are definitely some in there!)

Dont get me wrong, I don't disagree with the priority system but it only rewards those with loads of points in the previous 2 seasons, not for long time service. And yes, I know whatever solution there is will not fit every fan. It's not even a race though yet for us. Hasn't got that far! Lol

I'm just so disappointed for my dad, more than anything. He and I have been all over the country with Ipswich, for years, with our 5 games a season, to all the 'lower' clubs too. He is in his 70s now and was SO excited he might finally get to Man City and Liverpool this year, the only two 'big club' grounds he has left to visit, before he pegs it (his words, not mine! 😂) It sold out the day before my priority. (He has 15 points but I have 14 due to an illness last year, and this season he wouldn't be able to go on his own).

Yep, the novelty could wear off, but don't want us to get hammered either!
Let's hope we'll get enough points this season, stay up, and he doesn't 'peg it' so he gets another chance next year 🤣

I think a fairer solution would have been a different split for the ballot. 5% feels a bit tokenistic and not quite the impression that was given as people were being encouraged to buy the memberships.

Somewhere between 15-20% for the ballot (10% absolute minimum) might have been a better balance.

I've been fortunate to get both Man City and Brighton tickets but I would like to see more go to a ballot. People that have supported the club through thick and thin over many years are at risk of being frozen out. Many people aren't free every weekend, it could be work, maybe you're divorced and only see your kids every other weekend, maybe you have caring commitments for elderly or disabled relatives.
The problem with the points system is that the more points you have the easier it is to get points. Frankly, you've got more chance of getting to a game if you know someone with 25 points that isn't going to a game but is willing to let you use their points than if you have 14 points yourself. The system is open to abuse and doesn't take into account long term support from people who simply cannot go every week.

I'm on 13. I wonder what my £39.99 membership will get me this season?

In a desperate attempt to get to Goodison before it closes I have joined EFC this year too. It's £35, and at least you get a nice welcome pack that includes a card, playing cards, coasters, a bottle opener, pin badge, car sticker and a pen all branded with Member 2024/25.

Yes, 5% may seem a fair amount but when you look at it in numbers even in the top capacity, 5% of 3000 is actually only 150 tickets. Also as my dad and son need to be accompanied, we have to apply as a group. My impression was that if you apply as a group and one of you get drawn out of the ballot, then the rest of the group go too but have been informed that might not be right and all three of us would have to be drawn out or none of us go??
I may be wrong, but if this is the case, then if you apply as a group you are even less likely to get a ballot ticket.
