There are no excuses for them missing out on promotion this year
In our promotion year, we had £1.6M net and £2.1M total spend (and only £300k net spend the year before with Cook’s rebuild).
They’ve already spent £9.5M net with £13.7M total spend, and that’s before this rumoured £9M+ bid. |  |

9 million is an absolute waste of money on one player at league one level. You should be able to put together a league-winning team for that much. I have no idea how they can justify that with the accountants.

They should, but the dark arts, parking the bus, time wasting, constant niggly fouls, 11 oppo players behind the ball, dubious refs make it much harder than it should be. Took us a good while to master breaking down the low block, if Birmingham manage it in their first season then fair play. | | | |

I don't think anyone will be laughing at them for as long as Norwich and other ITFChaters were laughing at us.
We spent more than anyone else in our promotion season, so I don't think we have much of a right to point and laugh. I appreciate that we never paid a fee of that enormous size, but our wage bill was very significant. Money is money, and it's easy to get too hung up on the headline transfer fee alone. |  | | |
