Clarke is very right footed and does this often.
What's incredible is that, for a player so predictable, he seems to have so much joy with it. Whenever I have seen him play you know it's coming but nobody seems to be able to stop him and even against Fulham, he did this twice and got past a couple of players before having a shot or standing a cross up.
Will free up an awful lot of room for Leif down that side to do damage too. | | | |

That's Clarke's MO though. I'd be interested to see stats on how many goals are scored from a traditional winger's type of cross from the bye line these days compared to a wide striker cutting in and shooting or playing a short pass. It feels to me like the latter tends to be more productive. Maybe Centre backs are better at cutting out crosses? |  |

I'd say that's half true. We tend to overload the right hand side of the pitch which gives Davis the freedom down the left if we can find the right pass to him. It's no coincidence that Broadhead, and now Clarke both start from the left but drift in to the middle to help create that space. |  |

Look at his body movement and also look at his ball control.
You can see why he gets so much joy. He literally only needs a yard or two or space and is happy to pull the trigger.
Even though defenders know it's coming - he does enough to get that space.

He's a powerful runner and he can get a good cross in, he doesn't necessarily have to beat a man, if he can get a yard of space to get a cross in. | | | |

Yep also noticed it several times and half expected to see a different pattern or something hit it was literally next a square ball inside to someone else who was perhaps quite tightly marked. Not sure if were an intentional tactic but it did seem to happen quite a lot. Maybe KMcK sees the drive through the edge of the box and into the box committing defenders to tackle aggressively and with VAR now a factor adding to the dilemma for the opposition.

I e seen a few adjustments like this to protect our defensive shape when teams counter this season. It was noticeable how little Burns would run at or beyond Robertson against Liverpool too. Partly as they doubled up but also to not get caught out of position and be exploited. We’re clearly more company and less expansive than we have been over the last two seasons. | | | |

Exactlty this. At times Clarke will cut in from the left and shoot with his right. Davis will go on the overlap and take defenders with him to allow clarke to do this. Other times, Clarke will feed Davis with defenders thinking he is going to cur inside. Simple but it's why McKenna bought Clarke. |  |
