So the City trial starts 18:54 - Sep 16 with 2638 views | Crawfordsboot | I suspect that’s just the start of their troubles. What happens when clubs that were relegated after losing to city start to sue. Then what about every club that has lost millions in Premier league prize money by finishing behind City, or missed out on European qualification behind City. This is going to be on hell of a sh**storm! Edited to correct auto prompt errors 🙄 [Post edited 16 Sep 2024 18:57]

I’m not sure about that Everton and Forest cooperated and got hit. City appear to have confuse and obfuscate. If they get off on a technicality I could see the rest of the league breaking away and reforming without City

they couldn't even get leicester on the hook, and that seemd like a far simpler case...

I do think that FFP or whatever it’s called is a farce. It’s simply a tool for the traditional PL big clubs to try and keep both Man City and Newcastle in check. Within the rules I suspect that City are guilty but nothing will happen. They might get a two point deduction plus have to pay a ‘meaningless’ few million pound fine. But nothing substantial will happen to them. [Post edited 16 Sep 2024 19:03]

No. They are to big and important for that. The PL cash cow won't permit a league without them.

Other clubs have so much power. If City get away with it all other teams should agree to not play City. Either not turn up or walk out on to the pitch for kick off and then walk off the pitch. Sponsors and TV execs would quickly s5it the bed.

They ain't going to do that. The PL money is far to important to them.

The potential for legal disputes and appeals to rumble on for months and years is huge. On that writer’s last point, I think I read on the BBC earlier that if they lose, city cannot appeal to CAS.

Because on your expert analysis of the legal position, Man City have a strong case? Or because you know that the arbitration panel has been bribed?

What was all that transfer ban with Chelsea? That seemed harsh. Did City have one of them? I'd be surprised if they got anything much. Worst might be 1 title rescinded.

Nope. I’m just a sad old cynic. I could enter all my legal acumen onto a postage stamp and still have room to plonk it on the postcard. Having seen Swindon hammered and West Ham let off for exactly the same offence, Leicester allowed to submit accounts probably done by a three year old with crayons, I have my doubts as to whether there will be a serious look at what MC have been up to. Especially given their owners can afford the best lawyers in the universe.
So the City trial starts on 09:37 - Sep 17 with 1373 views | bsw72 | I understood this to be a hearing vs a trial, as such both parties can present their supporting evidence but no cross examination etc, more about the validation of charges leading to the panel making a judgement / punishment. The most concerning thing to me is that there is potential for the Premier League to be found liable for legal costs (tens of millions) - in which case all of the 20 PL clubs, including us, could have to fund a percentage of these costs. Whole thing is a mess quite frankly.

Why is it all being held behind closed doors ? All we will find out is the result. Sounds iffy from the start. Which will of course be followed up by an appeal. Can, kicking, road.
So the City trial starts on 09:49 - Sep 17 with 1299 views | glasso | And *that's* why they won't get found guilty. Because their guilt would show a monstrous f**k up on behalf of the Premier League over the past decade and also open the door to another decade of legal battles. So just close the door on it, say everything's OK and carry on. [Post edited 17 Sep 2024 9:52]
