Liking the look on 18:47 - Sep 7 with 4183 views | Nutkins_Return | I like him. A little bit limited technically but hard working, Rapid and strong. Burns is technically maybe a bit better but Ogbene has dangerous tools and is pretty ideal to rotate with burns. See him as a powerful runner for 60-70 with a dangerous finisher to come on for last 20.

Liking the look on 19:00 - Sep 7 with 4001 views | MVBlue | See one of the real benefits is getting that ball up the line away from danger driving at the opposition. He doesn't always need to cross it, I notice he gets it right up there, holds it up and waits for the team to transition into attack.

Liking the look on 19:12 - Sep 7 with 3874 views | wischip | Ogbene has definitely been the best player in the Ireland team. Some good link ups with Szmodics. But they were let down by the No. 9 between them Idah.

His end product has been found wanting on a lot of occasions, not just today but certainly in his recent career. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Indeed he drove into good positions and then came back out. I think he needs to trust himself and really drive past players and into the corner. Early days for this Irish team with a new manager. Really struggled in midfield today need to try and retain the ball better. Idah did nothing for me, yes he's on his own up front and the ball was constantly above him.
Liking the look on 19:23 - Sep 7 with 3752 views | wischip | Ogbene and Szmodics played the full match which was a worry for us, but from Ireland's perspective it's no wonder they stayed on as those 2 were the best chance Ireland had of getting a goal back.

First thing I saw when I switched on was Burns pull the pull back to Chaplin on the edge of the box, and Chaplin smashed it just wide. Ooh, sorry... Ogbene pull the pull back to Szmodics... It's the DNA innit!

in that case you just missed the long diagonal cross-pitch pass from O'Shea to Ogbene just before the pull back to Szmodics.

The problem for Ogbene being that there weren't a lot of options for him at the end of his runs. The pack of England defenders got back fast, surrounding him the moment he ran out of room and slowed, so not a lot of open targets to cross or pass the ball to. Needed more Irish players in the box (tho they daren't as gave the ball away too often allowing breaks).

He also needs to stop rugby tackling people on the box when defending corners.

Agreed, hopefully the whole team will.improve as the new manager starts influencing things. There were time when Brady went on a run on the left and just ended up hoofing it back to the English defence as he had not other option. Plus a lack of quick decision making led to the ball being gifted to the opposition and pace breaking. This Irish team lacks confidence but has a lot of young players and Prem players too. Just needs someone to stitch it altogether and tactics which plays to their strengths.

He didn't. At all. The replay clearly showed Maguire pulling him onto him and trying to buy a penalty.

What’s that got to do with the point that I think he lacks end product? And he clearly wasn’t MOM no matter who called it. Grealish and Rice were streets ahead of him, quite obviously. [Post edited 7 Sep 2024 21:05]

It really doesnt. My point was the same before tonight and if you think he was a worthy MOM over others you’ve got your tinted specs on, “but, but…he’s one of ours…how dare you be objective…” 🙄

Tho there was one later when he grabbed Kane with both arms, but it was the England player who came off better. Probably just an excess of zeal, which can be a good thing in other circumstances than facing a wily and experienced forward in the box.
