The 'players you'd forgotten had played for town' thread reminded me of some of the more bizarre short term loans we'd had in the past like Ricardo Fuller and Danny Simpson
I'd love the option to go and get another forward on loan for a month or so before the Jan window closes. Someone who you'd not normally be in with a chance of signing but is returning to fitness or who isn't getting minutes for their side but could come on for us at 60mins or so. |  | | |  |

Scrap the window altogether and get back to being able to sign when ever you like, would mean fringe players could actually play football rather than being said in the backround for maybe 5 months of a season, it would bridge the gap for promotion sides who haven't got to wait a few months before they can add further quality, esp following a run of injuries to an already small squad... |  |

Anthony Georgiou was best mates with my wife's godson. He says he was incredibly dedicated as a teenager & determined to make it as a pro footballer. He managed to stay contracted to Spurs until he was 24, which is some achievement. It hasn't really happened for him, maybe he wasn't quite good enough, but I doubt it was a result of lack of trying. |  |

Yeah good on him, its incredibly difficult to cut through and make it in professional football. Incredibly difficult. Generally I think players tend to find their level but there's also a big element of fortune in it all IMO, being in the right place at the right time, injuries, form etc. I respect anyone who comes through and plays at a professional standard and as you say you generally need a high level of resilience and commitment. | | | |
