I completely understand be runs himself into the ground, but at the same time you can’t sit there and say Al Hamadi today was more influential on the game than Delap would have been running on 50% for those last ten minutes?
AAH has looked a bit brighter in certain games, but I can’t help feel today was his last league appearance for us.

Today, that substitution feels a real odd one. Delap’s pressing from the front so important and him on the pitch for the last 10 mins may have made a huge difference. It may not, however, Al-Hamadi clearly not at the level required. Especially odd as Delap’s now going to get an 11 day break. |  | | |

Some games, Delap has looked exhausted and needed to be pulled. I think, from memory, Wolves was one of them. Today wasn't one of them, which is why the change baffles me. | |

I felt like Al needed to get fit before it was fair to give opnions on him.
So we base it now that he is. But all I can say is he really must do some running in training.
I don't see yet anything that's not a league 2 striker. |  |

Delaps minutes are being managed as he puts so much effort in. The more times he plays 80 plus minutes at his age the higher the chance of an injury that might have him out for weeks.
It’s the main reason why Hirst has been such a big miss and of course the missing 3rd striker.
Hopefully in 2 weeks we’ll have 3 forwards ready to go against Brighton and Delap can play no more than 65 mins | | | |

So the manager confirmed Hutchs injury is because of the workload in the last two games when he's been on the pitch nearly the full match.
And you think keeping our only fit striker who runs himself in to ground on regular basis, on for the whole game is a good idea ?
The reason Delap can run himself like that because he knows he will be subbed and isn't playing the full 90. | | | |

Delap played 88 mins. If we are taking him.off to avoid injury, surely it would be earlier.
I can't wait until we have a decent striker replacement and we can actually take him off and still have a threat from a striker. | | | |

He's being protected because he is absolutely vital to us and all we really have at the moment in terms of striker threat with Hirst out. Hopefully we will soon fix that. |  |

Because he is at a drastically increased risk of injury at that point in the match. He's already having to carry more of the load for weeks. We are trying to see our a game rather than attacking so McKenna is bringing on fresh legs and protecting the guy we need to stay injury free.
You can't use hindsight (and nothing to say that sub made the difference) in any one match as a reason to to do the right thing (which we do every game for the above reason). You don't know which game leaving him on will end in injury. You have to be consistent with the sports science guys what load the guys can take in a week. | |
