He literally got a back headbutt thing right on his head.

What an ridiculous post. The other player involved is irrelevant.

Rubbish, Dane Scarlett is about 5ft 10, are you telling me you are happy for your centre half to lose that header?

It wasn't a foul he was just too weak. Yes the ref should have stopped it if being consistent but it only became an issue because Greaves can't win a routine header. It's no wonder we are going down, we cant get the basics of defending right.

It rather depends where the ball is dropping... He cant go through the opponent...

I didn't see that header.. was it a high ball as dane is known for having quite a leap on him.

Height doesn't matter, the angle and trajectory of the ball is what is important.

It was a clear head injury, whether it is a foul is irrelevant to the rules.

Good post apart from the content though.

Ok Lord Stokie, I bow to your superior knowledge. I forget you know everything about everything. I will check in with you next time before posting.

Thing is, it's fine to take this predictable and well tried view about me on the forum but lots of other posters have disagreed with you.

Perhaps you're just wrong?

It was a punt forward, Greaves should win the header all day long against Scarlett. What happens after is then avoided. Ultimately 3-1 or 4-1 it doesn't really matter in the grand schemes, but it just really annoyed me on top of Godfrey's woeful defending in the first half.

Greaves isn't that much taller than dane though is he?

Greaves did well the majority of the game. He will lose our on occasions.

Perhaps I am, I will watch it back later but that was my initial feeling and having played centre back at fairly decent level I would have been disappointed in myself for not winning that header.

Completely agree, people downvoting this are pathetic. He’s a 6ft whatever CB losing a header against a child who couldn’t get in oxfords team, then pretending he’s injured. Get Burg back in.

No, he's right.
The majority of your posts are inflammatory and, often, downright rude. It makes you come across as thoroughly obnoxious.

You can't win a header where the ball isn't at a point you can win it.

I agree - go watch it back later and then we can discuss.

It's all irrelevant though, winning the header or not, a head injury means the game should be immediately stopped so not sure why you're focusing on this.

The majority?

Interesting.

He's also not right on the stoppage part, a head injury means the game should be stopped. With regards to the actual header I don't think he's right but he is going to watch again and so will I and then we can debate it like adults.

Also interesting that your first post for 6 months is to attack another poster, thanks for the contribution.

It's down to strength. Scarlett was in a position to head it on and Greaves couldn't move him from that position. Perhaps he was tiring and would have won that header earlier on who knows. Height has a little part to play. If Scarlett is 5.6 Greaves can lean over him, less easy at 5:10.

You're talking nonsense. You can't win a header when you're rising into the back of someone's head smashing into your brow/nose.

Ref was wrong not to bring it back, but it was an accidental clash of heads not fair duel.

Just logged on to ask why you feel the need to be so rude to someone you’ve never met, who was reacting in a reasonable way to your inflammatory OP? How about you act like a decent person.

All season long I’ve watched teams, including us, have counter attacks stopped because a player went down holding their face even if the contact was obviously never going to cause concussion. The one time a team breaks on us after we have a player go down holding their head they are told carry on and pop the ball in the net. Not sure how you can even claim that as incompetence, just a flagrant contradiction of all previous precedent.

You didn't see that comment then Swailsey? Is that decent and reasonable or rude and inflammatory? Please dont try to paint SB as the poor innocent victim, he really isn't.

So I have watched it back several times and I largely stand by my original opinion. There is enough height and distance on the pass to enable Greaves to win it in my opinion. He isn't strong enough and subsequently doesn't even get off the ground.

Yes the ref should of course stop play but i'm still expecting my centre half to be stonger there.

My OP could have been worded in a better way but hey it's a passionate game and my team had just shipped four at home. In the heat of the moment sometimes we vent our frustration.

Fair enough.

We can disagree on the header but at least we agree the ref should have stopped the game.

Just this. It's a head injury stop the game immediately. There is no rule where it says play on if one team is attacking.

Burgess wins that header not a doubt.
