But leave off the hatred and personal vitriol.

It's sad and embarrassing.

He’s the first player in a long time to get that sort of crowd reaction too. Every time he had the ball it was a chorus of angry calls to get him to play the ball.

I can't work out whether it was a Murić issue, or a McKenna issue, but a lot of it stemmed from the fact that Soton were just happy to sit off the keeper and not press.

Given that our usual tactic seems to be that the pass is triggered by the press, there was a reluctance or inability to switch to Plan B in that respect.

The fact that the bench didn't seem to have an issue when Muric seemed to stand on the ball, seemed like he had been given instructions to do so.

A lot of fans just wanted it pumped long in the hope a forward gets their head onto it, some fans are happy with that. Hit and hope aka Lambert style

It pathetic, what I am seeing here on Muric.

Conceding isn’t our biggest problem (ignoring recentManC and Liv scores) - we can’t expect many clean sheets in the PL.

Not scoring enough at the other end is our problem. Our attacking players should be scoring more than one goal ant home against Southampton (and more than zero V Brighton).

That’s bullsh!t

A 1-0 win would have been great today.

Why on earth would a team in our position score more than 1 goal in a match? We just need to save basic goals.

Maybe you've stumbled upon the perfect tactic against us.

Take the lead
Pass to Murić
Don't press

We'll just hold the ball for the rest of the half.

I’m not going to search through the forum posts on your behalf, but for example how many times had he been called a clown in the last few hours.

People need to heed KmK’s comments from yesterday about ‘abuse’…

I couldn't believe the crowd reaction. How can people have watched us play for 3 years and not understood it's a deliberate tactic? He's been told to wait to try and pull their players in to break the press.

Well said.

He's made mistakes but keepers do. Half of our support seems to delight in him making more and getting on his back.

The nastiness (saw some shocking comments on twitter) is disgraceful.

Why can't people be frustrated and disappointed but still support the team? Why does it turn into vitriolic nonsense?

Exactly this. I understand the Muric frustration, I really do, especially with the shot stopping. However today I thought he was good on the ball, played some good progressive passes into Broadhead.

Baffles me that our fan base get on his back when he’s slowing the game down, how does that help? We wait to pull them in, and whilst Southampton were reluctant to do so, there were a few times when it worked and we turned defence into attack with 2-3 passes.

If Muric doesn’t wait and plays quickly, we tend to have very little progressive passes because Southampton are set in a deep block. Lots of sideways passing, backwards passing etc. Most goals come from transitions and turnovers these days, hence the tactic.

Exactly. Well summed up.

It's just crazy to me that people have sat through KM era playing this way and even been told about it by him and don't recognise it.

Why do you have to use such inflammatory language like “hatred”? It’s divisive which is exactly what you’re arguing against. Just because people vent and express exasperation or disdain for something it doesn’t mean it’s hatred.

Some folks don’t rate Muric. Some think he shouldn’t be in the side. Some think we should never have signed him. I’m a mix of all three of those but I don’t, “hate”. Labelling or inferring it’s that is what is sad as it’s polarising.

Calling out ‘hatred’ is divisive and inflammatory, but calling someone a c-word or a clown isn’t. Have you been following Trump’s playbook? Seems like it. Muric is not our biggest problem. Not even close.

At the Arsenal away game the bloke next to me was on Muric’s case all gsme, and at an audible distance to the goal in one half. “McKenna if that c-word isn’t in the bench next week I will tear up my season ticket” was a particular highlight (amusingly followed by “I f-ing love this club”)

I think, as said, it was because it was clear the slow ball wasn't working so the crowd wanted it played faster to try and mix things up. It is slightly concerning that McKenna didn't change tactically and inform Muric to play the ball quicker when it was clear Southampton were not biting.

I don't get this sort of opinion, conceding isn't our biggest problem...

It is when a number of those conceded have been down to individual errors. Cutting those out first should be the priority.

It wouldn't be so much an issue if all these goals had been due to a great bit of skill or a worldie

If they cut out the mistakes and still keep losing, yes it would then be a case of scoring goals, can't keep shooting ourselves in the foot and expect to score 2 goals a game just to get a point

We’ve kept two clean sheets all season. That isn’t all down to the goalkeeper. Where was the marking for the first goal or closing down the initial shot for the second? Music isn’t very good; but he isn’t the reason we are where we are. You’re dreaming if you think a promoted side like ourselves is going to be winning games 1.0 in the Premier League, especially one that conceded 57 last season in the Championship. I remember speaking to a Town fan in a motorway services after the Brighton away game at the start of the season and we both agreed the key for survival was going to scoring goals and whether we had the creativity and people to do that. It’s clear we don’t - 22 goals from 24 games, speaks for itself.

You’ve missed the point. Where’s the ‘hatred’ to call it that? Where’s the c-word used on here, I haven’t seen it or did I miss it? Muric isn’t our single biggest problem, agreed. He’s been one of them, past tense. He won’t play again this season if others are fit.
