This place is depressing after games at the minute 18:04 - Mar 15 with 2335 viewsDubtractor

I mean, I get it, it's pretty miserable seeing us come up short every week so I'm not really having a pop, but it's just a cascade of negativity isn't it? Numerous players identified as the boo boys who can do nothing right, McKenna is naïve and out of his depth, our transfer business was a shambles etc etc.

This season just needs to be done with tbh, as every week of this is damaging us, and that togetherness we had as a club gets eroded a bit further. Much like winning became a habit for us last season, this season losing has become contagious, with us finding new ways to lose games each week.

On the plus side, all the early leavers meant that traffic was much better getting out of town after the game, so that was nice.

I think I've been pretty good. I hope I have anyway.

But I do have to ask... is it not expected to be a bit of a wake on here after another loss.

If its a loss on a run of a win and a draw then I'd get your point. But when you've held onto a bit of hope of a great escape and we just follow loss with loss. I don't understand what some posters expect to see when they come on here..

....left with 20 mins to go so he could go and watch the rugby.

Funny.

To your point though, we got promoted from the 3rd Division mainly because we were just better than the rest of them, we got promoted from the Champ largely due to team spirit and "never say die" attitude.

We seem to be totally devoid of that attitude at the moment, and without it we literally offer nothing. We need to get that particular "mojo" back for next year.

Or else.

Think the more I see of this side the more I think actually next season could be awkward

It took KM a while to get his town side going.
We've got to rip this new one apart in the summer even more due to loans. Contracts expiring etc..

....we'll see a fairly usual turnover of players I expect.

It's more about the management team instilling the spirit back into them.

We have lost 8 of the last 9 games. Bar Aston Villa away, which was a totally different game due to the red card, we have not scored a point in the Premier League since January 5th. That is form that deserves some grumpy comments.

Most fans are reluctant to criticise McKenna too much because, while he hasn't had a great season, we wouldn't be in the Premier League at all without him. It is understandable to question some of his decisions, but comments suggesting changing the manager are absolutely ludicrous.

Most of the promotion squad don't get too much criticism for the same reason, because they are cult heroes for getting us to the Premier League at all. But any new signings this season have not been part of the good times and only this disappointing season, and so it makes sense that when people want to blame someone, they look at them, particularly players who have been picked over the promotion squad without having the performances to back them up. And we were unquestionably a better team before the January transfer window, and have picked up one point since those new players came in, so there is no reason to have any loyalty at all to them just yet.

I don't agree with getting on the players backs at the ground at all, but on a football forum it is different. This forum would be incredibly boring if we just went on about how wonderful everyone is after one point in nine games. And better to let anger out on here than when the players can hear it.

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

Not to be a pedant, but how do you figure we've not scored a point since 5th January if we drew with Villa since then?

I pretty much agree with the rest of your post though!

Edit: Apologies, I just re-read your post, so ignore my first comment as I read it wrong first time!

For me, the post-game doom is depressing but understandable.

The thing I hate about the board at the moment is that it's not just the reactionary posts straight after the game. EVERY thread that looks to find any positivity or chink of light is just overrun with endless negativity throughout the week.

Take your thread about Norwich's troubles, Bang - immediately one of the usual suspects turns it into yet another 'Town are terrible, woe is everything' blub.

It's a small but very vocal group of idiots who stink out the board with their constant negativity and seem to revel in it. The white knight's signature exhibit A.

Yeah this season's been pretty crap as an experience - I've tried to take the positives where possible as imo there's not point moaning and crying every week when we've waited so long for this opportunity, but it's not been much fun watching us lose most weeks and barely score.

As you say though the way some people have been going on is stupid. I know it's the nature of it that when you win a lot everything's great and when you lose everything's wrong and this should have been done, that decision was bad and this player should have played etc. but it's tedious in the extreme the way some are just on a massive negativity trip.

Just got to see this season out, enjoy the final 9 times Jens Cajuste plays in a Town shirt then refresh ourselves over the summer and try and enjoy going to the football again.

On that note we'll be fine and challenging at the right end - we'll be going from more of a standing start than last time but with a much stronger base and will be able to attract some top talent. Actually starting to look forward to it already.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Perhaps I should have laboured the point a bit more, but I get why everyone is whinging, it's just that it makes being on here pretty miserable!

The sooner we get to the summer to reset, the better, as I don't think it's going to get much better in the last 9 games.

Here’s hoping.

Just logged on after getting home and it’s as predictable as I expected. I don’t think it was as bad on here when we dropped out of the Championship, and the piss poor seasons in League One or maybe I have just banished that to the furthest reaches of my mind. We just lost to the team 3rd in the League so it’s hardly a surprise is it? It really is getting to the point where I’m thinking about logging off for good - I’m so bored of the ‘know alls’ and their constant negativity.

It is the worst it’s ever been. I see entitled, negative, know it alls a plenty. I see people dishing out the treatment to players utterly unfairly but most of all, it’s the sheer pleasure they are getting from doing it that I find most nauseating.

Trying to influence’ by heaping it on is the norm. When a players father feels has to step in that tells you stuff does get to the players even if they don’t read it themselves. I suspect for our keyboard warriors that cheered and encouraged them immensely. So in the boot goes in on AAH, Muric, Clarke, now Philogene. Before that Burns, H Clarke, Ladapo. Judges juries and executioners.

JD - not good enough for Villa, doesn’t want to be here, too small, doesn’t do this or that. And that was before the bloke kicked a ball. Scores twice in a draw? He’s rubbish for 89 minutes. Boo. AAH scores the winner for Stoke. It was a tap in - doesn’t count.

It doesn’t matter if they’ve only been here a couple of months and are playing in a struggling team. Get stuck in the sooner the better. No doubt McKenna is on the abuse pleasure radar now and will get the same vile rudeness that McCarthy got sooner rather than later.

It’s not so bad in the ground. I wouldn’t go if it was. By and large the crowd have been very supportive, given the disappointment. Through I don’t know what it’s like behind the goals. Maybe the majority there appreciate where and what the team and club is.

I can see where you are coming from re considering logging off for good. You are not alone.

I think that was the risk with replacing almost every member of the promotion team and it hasn't really paid off.

Yes, very much the downside of a difficult season after two outstandingly good ones. We’ve made mistakes this season undoubtedly but the real problem is the size of the gap we had to bridge. That a Leicester team who looked comfortably better than us last season are below us is telling there.

Easier to pick scapegoats and the collective reaction to Philogene at the moment is depressing, too many made their minds up based on Villa’s actions last Summer.
