Morsy + one of Jack Taylor, Humphreys or Ben Johnson is still a very good midfield given what is around them. Of course we want 2 proper top signing in that position.
As stressed or as desperate as we all are for signings, literally 3 signings (2 CM and 1 striker) is all we need to be top quality for this division. The iceing on the cake would be a 3rd striker allowing al Hamadi out on loan, a CB and another CM. Don't think we lack anywhere else currently. | |

Nothing against him a willing runner, good lad etc but my personal viewpoint is he's not good enough to start week in, week out. His goals against Wolves elevate his overall contribution. | | | |

Really? Morsy's the best of that lot... but he's 34. How much is left in the tank?
Taylor hasn't even proven himself in the Championship yet and I think more of a lower end Championship midfielder.... Humphreys is still developing and we don't know how good he is at this level... BJ... what is he? RB, RW, wing back.... and now CM? Can't really add him to the list.
Agreed we need 2 proper signings at CM.... but currently I think we have a worryingly weak CM. We need to bring in 2 top class midfielders who are likely to start. | | | |

Think we need 2 strikers as Ali is not good enough to get you promoted and a good chance Hirst at some point picks up a injury. | | | |

Agreed Taylor is a much better player than people give him credit for. He is not a holding midfield like Kieran traditionally likes in the middle he is more box to box. Perhaps our manager will change our style this season or maybe we got back to tried and tested trust the process. We will see. I get a feeling we will evolve from our last promotion from this div. |  | | |

It’s right that midfield is a position of concern but not necessarily for the lack of transfer movement at this time. Signings happen when the happen as MA says, that doesn’t mean we are not dealing with the position.
I’m a little more concerned by the fact that a significant role in the team, one that bridges defence and attack and is important for possession and ball progression will be new to the club, to KMck, the patterns of play. It’s doesn’t stop there, the player we need to back up Morsy properly isn’t at the club either at this stage, the concern is the time to settle, integrate and deliver once the plane leaves the runway.
I’m not sold that Humphries nor Taylor are the answer either, part of an answer for sure but not the answer. | |

Was told we were v keen on Harrison Reed at the end on May. But at that point was told Cajuste talks were progressing well, too. Not heard anything more since.

My point is clearly not that we ARE going to start with just those. It is that we only need a few signings so there is zero panic. We are looking to sign the right players of a high caliber not getting in big numbers like previous seasons.
Taylor is better than that although we will sign better. Ben Johnson is as much a CM as he is a right back. | |

What midfield.
At best we go with out of position players, or players arriving late in the window who haven’t played together.., guess we can’t judge now.
All we can judge is the really poor planning, and contingency.
I’ve been er seen a club out side have one 34 year old, for the managers two most crucial positions at this stage…, but it can change quickly.
I’d love to have been in those Ashton and Gamechanger meetings when McKenna had agreed to join Brighton.

There’s no other way owners back that level of spending, and no other way a manger leaves himself just one 34 year old in midfield either.

Morsy has been brilliant but we can’t really on him as much as we did last time in the Championship. He still has a role to play but not as an automatic starter.
Taylor had lots of chances but being part of a 2 man midfield just doesn’t show enough. Would happily see him move on. 2 midfield players in as minimum for me. Then perhaps Cam given a chance of the bench. | | | |

I think we will go for Hackney and listening to his stats on the second tier that would be a good move.
