He played a full 45 mins last weekend and maybe this weekend rather than binning him off it was more about getting minutes into the important players whilst still offering the youngster the experience | |

Theres nothing wrong with it. Barbrook got a run out at the weekend in Austria. Perhaps KMc decided that given it was pretty strongly contested for a friendly, it wasn't the right game for a youngster.
You've mentioned Arsenal twice, but their youngsters come from a long established CAT1 academy playing in a strong league in PL2, certainly more robust than any of our youth will be at a comparative point. What Arsenal do isn't really a useful comparison |  |

ask any academy player if they'd like to come on a pre-season trip and train wih the first team, but unlikely to play in the game. every one will leap at the chance for their progression and their experience.

Who from the genuine playing squad are you taking that 10 minutes off? Given the plan was to play 65 mins and make all 11 changes? McKenna wanted those 65 mins in the legs building up to 90. So for the lads who came on for their 25 mins whose time are you nearly cutting in half just for a cameo?!
It's professional football 2 weeks from season start. Barbrook is getting a taste including mins in last friendly.
He may well get a few mins at Charlton but it will likely mostly be reversed minutes from last game.
