About to chat about the Farage situation. Might be of interest to some.

It is, but also Danny Murphy who is usually pretty level headed and seems a decent enough chap. Be interesting to hear a neutrals view on it. So embarrassing that Ipswich are all over the media for all the wrong reasons.

Did I just hear that it's Badenoch next?

In a way, much as I don't like the Tories either, it might be what needs to be done, so as long as the Greens, Labour, the Lib Dems also get an invite.

Very funny that TalkSport have got yet another script to read from

'We'd mange it differently next time'

'Kemi Badenoch is booked next'

Absolute smoke and mirrors from Ashton and Co.

Its probably the only way out of it now. Get them all in, make a big song and dance that it was always the plan.

Exactly what I said they should do yesterday - open an invite up to all political parties taking part in May's IBC elections, but make it clear it will not be permitted after the local elections onwards.

That's even more pathetic. Pretend you've invited another prominent politician, and hope this has all blown over and people forget when she inevitably never visits the club.

I mean it would definitely be pathetic, and completely at odds with the lies that were issued in the first comms about it being nothing of the clubs doing.

Personally I'd just own the mistake and move on from it, but I could see some logic if they managed to get the other leaders over for a visit and doubled down on political neutrality and the broad church that is the ITFC fanbase.

That would genuinely be the most pathetic possible thing they could do and would require an incredible lack of ownership of actions from whoever is involved.

We don’t want our club to be used as a political football by anyone.

Have to admit for TalkSport, the overall sentiment on the matter probably about as good as it could have been.

- Shouldn't have happened
- Football shouldn't be weaponised by politics and politicians
- ITFC have had their pants down by Reform - there would have been many points this could have been prevented becoming what it has
- ITFC incompetence to blame, someones getting a slap on the wrist
- Smart opportunist move by Reform

Portman Road is a football stadium, not the Oxford Debating Society. The club are not obliged to give any of them a platform, and nor should they in my opinion.

Inviting other politicians is a pathetic and child-like response, and also confirms that the club lied about the whole affair in the first place.

I think that's a fair summary.

It smacks of naivety, I don't buy it as evidence of the political persuasion of the club. Personally I don't think Ashton's team is as elite as he likes to make out in certain areas. Perhaps he isn't himself.

A real lack of foresight to ever open the door to this. Those saying we had no choice and were damned if we do, damned if we don't etc is absolute nonsense. We absolutely had a choice, and should never have let them step foot inside PR, simple as that. We had no legal or moral obligation to and it should never have happened, in any capacity. The downside risk was always going to far outweigh the upside potential.

Idoits. Slapped wrists certainly needed. Probably a really thorough review of what it means to be custodians of a heritage brand and navigating such sensitive issues. Ideally a better response than we saw yesterday, but the ship might've sailed on that one.
