Where is Mark fAshton? 10:58 - Mar 26 with 1952 viewsbluebud

The club need to expand on their initial statement. This silence is harming the fans mental health and is damn rude tbh. You can criticise me for the fAshton but we better get used to it.

The longer they are silent the higher the memes, ridicule and songs.....I literally can't handle going to the derby atm the way I feel

Why would our CEO and club be comfortable with people thinking they are actually fascists

That is my issue here.

I am as angry about this as anyone but as a club we have to get on supporting the team. I am however very surprised and disappointed there has been silence from the clubs Chairman and CEO aside from I guess attaching himself to a pathetic club statement.

Poor show Ashton.

Expect the Chairman to make a statement saying the CEO has tendered his resignation accepting responsibility for the ongoing situation.

Don’t worry folks the letter of resignation was rejected. Carry on Mark.

….the CEO’s resignation and decides it’s in the best interests of the club if he takes over the role whilst also continuing as chairman.

Respect the sentiment but I do think this 'get on and support the team' stuff is a really problematic tool to distract from the fact this is a serious issue that needs hashing out immediately. In football terms, we are in a good position and this situation could contribute to any falling short of the mark this season but that isn't our fault as fans.

There is as much an imperative to show what football fandom and support means to you as to give your support. Your support doesn't have to be unconditional even if you love the team and the manager and, usually, the club. What has happened is really important. People need to understand that there is a section of the fans who will simply leave if this isn't made right and that the club will be worse for it.

Moreover, we are in an international break right now - this is the time to talk about it and demand things of the club. We literally have 11 days until the next game. Getting this right has to be a priority.

With the scouting appointments he's made, and previous allegations (here and elsewhere) of meddling in some questionable transfers, I sincerely hope he isn't helping with identifying players.

Hell, I'd rather he was busy inviting Tommy Ten Names for a visit, if the alternative is him helping identify targets.

“Demand things of the club”? …who’s got any right to demand anything!
A mess has been created, let them deal with it and wait for the right time to acknowledge, explain and show their intentions going forward.

Our transfer record since Gamechanger came in is pretty solid when you look at it overall. I wouldn't have spent £12m on McAteer, but Ashton identified McKenna let's not forget, when other clubs would have appointed a "name" and also players like Delap, which puzzled plenty of people but turned out to be a masterstroke.

All clubs make transfer mistakes, even United under Sir Alex did.

The right time to acknowledge, explain, and show intentions was 5pm on Tuesday, when they released the pathetic statement that they did.

It's as clear as day that Ashton and Co have opted for the 'keep schtum and let it Peter out' approach, supported by the shockingly compliant local media.

A pathetic statement - as well, as we suspect, an untrue statement.

We have every right to question the club if we have been lied to on this matter.

Get on with supporting the team will happen on game day but we need answers.....now!

The local media play a huge part in Ipswich Town Football Club, do you not think meetings have taken place between the club and them to not blast this across every website, radio station and paper?
This is arguably an almighty error on the part of the club, they’re hardly going to allow the media to keep highlighting at every opportunity are they.

That's what happens in a void when people are looking for answers. Though you better get used to it as we are going to be called it a lot and this silence is promoting it.

Was this silly and unhelpful or is it totally accurate?

Well that's just been torpedoed. They took their time, but EADT are saying the club needs to apologise:

People are impatient and demanding.

The "void" is only a matter of hours old and dissatisfaction with the initial statement is partly down to people not taking it at face value (indeed, choosing to believe the unsubstantiated hints Farage has dropped over the club they support).

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
