Palace & Everton away will be good tests of our ability to compete away from home this season. Played some really nice football and created lots of chances against Man U and Liverpool bagged 3 points against a good Sunderland side, , but unfortunately people just want instant results and success. In most games at the beginning of our last season in the Premier we were competitive, taking the lead on a few occasions but could not increase our lead or we conceded to not hold on and had a number of draws where maybe we should have held on to win.
It is not a massive game for GON today for goodness sake but it is another game to hopefully improve in defence and the new team to continue to grow and gel together.
Please do not write off the team and GON after just three games at the beginning of the season especially when two of the three were Man U (Champions league) and Liverpool with £100 million + players

He's done a good job. Impressive pre-season. Excellent performance and results at Sunderland. Fantastic first half at Old Trafford which ended with a. Bit of a harsh scoreline but we did fold a bit. Couldnt contain Liverpool for 10 mins and then a good display. Hard to read too much into that game.
There really shouldn't be much pressure on O'neil after 4 game unless we are awful today. Palace are odds on favourites. You look at their squad and it's really strong. They have multiple £40 mil players and in adam Wharton a £70-80+ mil man. You realize just how hard this league is.

Not just qualified for Europe. They Won the European Conference league last season. And the FA cup the year before that. And these are the sorts of teams even 'away' some expect us to win or will put pressure in the manager. That is the scale of the challenge I guess.
I wouldn't be putting the pressure on O'neill if we perform decently well regardless of the result. The flip side of course is despite how hard it is we will have to get some points away somewhere. Here is hoping. | |

A Chris Sutton comment on today’s game has slightly irked me by Backtoblue78A 12 Sep 11:58Intelligent and articulate individual. Have to bear in mind that much of his radio work in particular has been around creating audience response and making people laugh.
He's a Premier League winner as a player and clearly has an informed knowledge of the game.
I find it strange that he generates so much antagonism just because he played down the road. Playing up to him pours fuel on the fire.
