Blades Skipper Out for Season
Blades Skipper Out for Season
Wednesday, 3rd Nov 2010 10:06

Sheffield United will be without skipper Chris Morgan when they face the Blues on Saturday with the central defender having been ruled out for the season with cruciate knee ligament damage. Morgan, 32, suffered the injury during Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Coventry City.

Manager Gary Speed said: "It's a massive blow for both Chris and the club and realistically we won't see him in action again until pre-season training next July.

"The lads we have that can play in the central defender's role will miss his experience and spirit, but I'm sure they will do all in their power to make up for his absence."

The Blues go to Bramall Lane on Saturday looking for their first victory on Blades territory since February 2005 when a debut goal from David Unsworth and a second half strike by Shefki Kuqi saw them to a 2-0 win.

Good, the bloke is an a**e, & should have been done for ABH years ago!

Good job!! Dirty see you next tuesday. Should be serving a sentence for GBH (due to a slight incident of his elbow fracturing a forwards skull!) not playing football! Definitely my most hated player in the Championship of all time. While i'm at it looks as though Nani might be even more of a cheating greasy w(i)nker that Ronny!

Sheffield Utd fans have been crying over this as he's been a rock in their defence and according to them Nosworthy isn't good enough to replace him.

Good chance for us to win on Saturday.

Still 4-5-1 Roy ????

don't get me started on nani! the guy makes me furious and is such a diver. anyone would think there's a sniper on the roof of old trafford that regularly takes pot shots at him. The way he rolls around all over the floor like a school kid and crys like a little girl is pathetic, he makes me wanna throw things at my telly - not good! anyways with dirty thug missing sat hopefully a win will be easier to come by.
COYB!!!

Can't believe were actually happy someone is injured!!

I'm glad he's not playing but in the same aspect this is his lively hood, i know he's not going to lose out on wages but i don't like to see anyone seriously injured and yes he has dished out his fair amount of bad tackles but we've got Delaney who isn't afraid to stick his boot in now and then so all the comments about the Pr**k getting what he deserves is a bit Childish to be honest.
If we all look at his week in week out performances he's normally a hard hitting tackler and at least he lets the oppossion striker know he's there.

I certainly wouldn't mind him being in our squad

We should all love Chris Morgan for being unable to get anywhere near Richard Naylor on 29 May 2000.

The real bonus, as Mach says, is if Nosworthy is his replacement. My in-laws are Sheff Utd fans, and they despair at his constant ineptitude.

Excellent news. I've hated this player for a few seasons now. Nasty piece of work and crafty with it. It's incredible the stuff he's got away with. Plus I don't think Wickham's quite ready yet to handle what this bloke would throw at him, especially to provoke him into retaliating.

Where were you all when keane ended a certain man city player's career??

whoppit added 13:02 - Nov 3
Ah Chambers - that is different isn't it ??? They are blind to Keane's many bad points.

Chambers - check your facts mate! Keane didn't finish the blokes career! The injury that stopped him playing was another one so why don't you stop trying to be clever. You continue to make yourself look a D!ck.

Pray tell which Man City player's career did Keane end? And please dont say Haaland..... that would be tedious.

PhilTWTD added 13:07 - Nov 3
Regardless of the rights and wrongs of that challenge, it didn't end Haaland's career, he played for more than a year after the tackle (and played the next week for Norway I think) before retiring because of an injury to the other leg. Be as critical as you want about Keane or anyone else, but stick to facts.

Phil how many games did Haaland play for Man City after that tackle or International football ,or top level football ? I think that is more of the point , a lot of players retire due to injury but play at lower standard leagues

I remember Morgan elbowing Matt holland when he was on the floor one year no one seemed to pick up on it at the time.

Not that many but I don't think that's relevant given that the injury which caused him to retire wasn't related to Keane's tackle, something he's said himself: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/2288164.stm
