Submit Questions for Jewell and Clegg
Wednesday, 2nd Nov 2011 09:08

Those unable to attend tonight’s Supporters Club AGM, where manager Paul Jewell and chief executive Simon Clegg will be guests, can supply questions for the Blues duo via TWTD. Jewell and Clegg will talk about the season so far and then take questions from fans at the meeting which is being held in Portman Road’s Legends Bar (7.30pm).

The evening will also include the business of the Supporters Club AGM - including speeches and election of officers — although this is likely to take only around 20 minutes.

The event is free but open only to Supporters Club members (those with current season tickets, Silver Club cards and Junior Blues) and those attending are asked to bring proof of their membership. For more information, contact Tammy Denny at tammydenny@hotmail.com or by phone on 07968 876504.

If you post your question in the Comments section below, they will be passed on to the Supporters Club and (depending on the numbers supplied), they will be asked on the night.

1. Paul - do you regret joining Derby? as they were clearly not good enough for the Premier League
2. Simon - how is your working relationship with Paul compared to the one with Roy?

and Phil Ham, can I listen to this online or anything?

The end of season thrashings from Norwich, Swansea and Leicester exposed our defensive frailties. We then lost the services of Gareth McAuley, Troy Brown and Tom Eastman.

Other than the free transfer of a player in his thirties who's recent career has been blighted by injury, why did it take the further humiliations from Southampton and Peterborough for the manager to finally address the problem that had been all too obvious for over five months?

Mr Clegg apart from overseeing the decline in attendances because of your insistence on doing nothing about the ridiculous matchday ticket prices what have you done for ITFC?

Mr Jewell why given the spending budget you enjoy have ITFC ended up with a team of geriatrics with no pace whatsoever?

Excellent question GB.

Here's mine.

And...we lack pace and runners are still not picking players up from midfield this has been an issue since Keane's day why aren't experienced Premiership quality players not doing the basics in their game?

And...

What goal has the club got? Have we a 2 year plan 3, 4...5? to get back into the Prem?
Will we be looking for younger pacier players in the Jan/summer?
Does the signing of some experienced players show a short term plan? And mean more upheavel as more players are needed into the club?

Your`s ain`t bad either!

No

and I have not even mentioned the contract situation he oversaw.
The job is to big for him, should have been replaced a long time ago

Thank you, Jordan Carver is her name.

Clegg would of been replaced if he wasn't any good.
I think he has made some mistakes - like you have highlighted the contract situation (the comments about not being held to ransome were i'll advised)the mess of the fans chanting at games that he oversaw but, what about his achievements?
- He has done well during the summer. How many players have come into the club? When Keane said it was impossible to bring players in during June how many did we bring in?
His handling of Jason Scotland deal, we got value for money? Didn't we?

Mr Clegg how did you let Jordan Rhodes go? Do you feel the need to resign over the matter?

The only way you can regain credibility with the fans is to buy him back.

Is the club charged interest on the ongoing subsidy of approx £4m per season?
Are you able to account for the self-generated transfer fees of approx £12m since the start of last season, what has that money been spent on?

Dear Mr Jewell

Can you explain to me why we always seem to go for premiership players who are getting on in their careers? They have been there done it earnt the money that goes with it what motivation do they have to play for us in championship?

We need to take a leaf out of Norwich's book and look at lower league players with that hunger and desire to improve themselves and make it at a higher level.

We desperatly lack pace and movement in the side it is so obvious. Bring back Jordan Rhodes he is the best finisher and striker out of the premiership.

1. Is the club going to put the investment into the Academy to make the step to Category 1, guaranteeing us the same rights as Premiere League clubs and stopping these clubs poaching our young players for next to nothing?
2. Why is the manager not using pace in the team or even having the option from the bench - the likes of Lee Martin or Josh Carson?
3. Has Luke Hyam got a future at itfc? If he is not in PJ's immediate plans, why is he not out on loan?
4. And I strongly echo questions about the defence and Rhodes above!

Question for Paul Jewell

What about signing the Southend duo Ferdinand and Hall and it is only a move from down the road so none of this dont know where Ipswich is on map

Ask them if we can have a drummer (like at Blackpool) or a trumpetter (like at Wembley) to get the crowd going as it is dead at PR especially on a week night. We need to make PR scary and if we have the north stand kicking off with a drum and singing etc... the rest of the stadium will kick off, get abit of an atmosphere and we will be harder to beat. There is nothing like the crowd righ tbehind you to kick on and this has to be considered to make the atmosphere better. All round it will be better for us.

COYB!!!!

A drummer or trumpetter would be final stage of our transition into a circus.

itfcjoe added 12:28 - Nov 1
Some of the above questions are pointless which if asked won't get answered properly like 'why didn't we sign a defender' or 'why are we signing old players' - they will be fobbed off as we were always looking and got best we could etc.

Unfortunately i can't attend but would be interesting in some more probing questions regarding what NorseBlue started.

What level academy will be have post-EPPP? Will we be looking to make the investment early to try and stop players leaving for knock down fees - and what will we be putting in place in order to stop players being picked up by big clubs.

Without trying to sound melodramatic, the whole future ofn ITFC could depend on how we react to these changes

Hello Paul and Simon, although I have been a Town supporter for almost 40 years half of that time has been spent in the Netherlands and I am quite frankly amazed that we have't got any Dutch players on our books these days.

We were the first club in Britain to recruit from Holland under the watchful eye of Sir Bobby Robson and we all know what a marvellous impact Arnold Muhren and Frans Thijssen had and they were the catalyst for much of our success in those days. Since then of course, Romeo Zondervan, Matijn Reuser and more recently Fabian Wilnes have ensured that our rich legacy of hiring some of the most technically gifted players in Europe has continued...until now that is.

Watching the top flight games week in week out over here convinces me that there are still some fantastic players around and at affordable prices too, which begs the question, why do we neglect this goldmine of talent? I will glady provide you with a list of potential signings if you so desire because Dutch players adapt more easily than most to the English game and they have all the right football credentials!

1 - For Paul Jewell:

There is a growing consensus among Town fans that a greater blend of youth needs to be incorporated into the talented yet ageing match day squad. Shane O'Connor, Luke Hyam, Jamie Peters, Lee Martin and Tamas Priskin are some of these squad members with first team experience who offer a different dynamic. Given some rather lethargic performances in recent games, would yo agree with this and if so, are any of them on the verge of first team starts?

PS: Cresswell and O'Connor at left back and left midfield of a 4-4-2 respectively for the Donnie game Paul. I'll let you have this one as your own master stroke as it'll pay dividends!

Paul Jewell has dealt with the Chopra situation in a professinal and sensible way. The club and supporters are right behind him. Lets do more for him like help fill his time. Think of all the charity work he could get involved in. Charities are crying out for help and this would benefit everyone. It would be nice to read positive publicity about a footballer as press love to write about the negative side.

After our 4-1 defeat to milwall jewell said,"we still have a soft underbelly" as shown in the beginning of the season after stringing together a 6 game unbeaten streak, we don't.

My Question to Paul would be," It is quite clear that other teams have been able to recognise our diamond formation with bullard at the the bottom and also keith andrews, lee bowyer and grant leadbitter, all that is needed is pressure put on jimmy so he cannot play the ball. Why dont you experiment with players to find advances in this already flawed tactic and getting players to expose the space ?"

If Paul Jewell is wanting to put pace back into our team why doesnt he give Josh Carson a chance who played well for us at the end of last season or Lee Martin?
