New Kits Every Year
New Kits Every Year
Tuesday, 31st Jan 2012 08:31

Town have announced that they will change both their home and away kit every season from this summer. The Blues say they were the only club in the top two divisions to change both their strips biennially prior to making the change.

Town's retail manager Lee Hyde told the club site: "It seems that most clubs have been working with single-year rotation on their shirts for several years now.

"We are one of the last remaining clubs not following this strategy but we feel that we now have to fall in line with the rest of football in this country.

"To keep the costs of the shirts competitive, we have to meet the minimum order requirements which the one-year rotation will also allow us to do."

Hyde says Town's two new kits will be available for pre-order from May: "We have been working closely with Mitre, our kit manufacturers, to produce a modern, striking look for next season and we're confident the new look will go down well with the supporters."

More evidence of supporters paying more for the same thing. Good luck selling many if we're in league 1 next year! Would anybody know who's name to get printed on the back these days?

What a stupid thing to do. What a very stupid thing to do.

Why not change kits at half time and be done with it?

A better idea, imho, would be to change the manager...

Another scam to screw more money out of long suffering Town fans.

"To keep the costs of the shirts competitive" - isn't it a standard £40 per shirt at every club?! And now we are going to have to pay £80 to get both shirts! We shouldn't have to feel that we have to "fall in line with the rest of football in this country", we are our own club, and we should do what we like in regards to things like this!

Supporters getting screwed again. The current shirts are such poor quality they don't last 2 years anyway.

Excruciatingly poor timing of this announcement. Many fans already feel disenfranchised, this only makes it worse.

Yeah, I was quite proud of that. Oh well.

Perhaps they should try falling in line with otehr clubs by defending like a professional football team.
Only ITFC could come out with such an announcement at the same time as they plummet down the league and do nothing about it. This club is fast becoming a sick joke.

great timing! another poor decision by messrs evans and clegg! if fans cant afford the season tkts etc how the hell do they expect us to pay for two new shirts-another ridiculous decision by the muppets running our once great club! this may not be important to everyone as not everybody buys the replica tops-but by owning the latest jersey kids feel part of the club! these guys are really quite unbelieveable!dont they know theirs a recession on!

The first shirt I got was the umbro fisons one, had every home kit since then, but didnt bother this year, it wasnt the cost it was just the poor quality of the shirt and total rip off rehash of the previous two. I seriously doubt Mitre has a decent shirt in them. Cheap second rate kit manufacturer. Even Core/Punch was better that this rubbish. Stick to making balls for the FA

I haven't bought a shirt for years the quality is so poor and the price is extortionate. This will lead to revenue falling for the club, so give it a few years, they'll either reduce prices or go back two yearly.

I feel left out now - didn't realise we were forced to buy home and away kits each season to prove we are fans, I assumed we had a choice.

I look at clubs like norwich or newcastle and when they play the stands r full of yellow or black and white but at PR this is not the case and this is gonna kill off those remaining shirts!ps wheres these signings the clock is tickin big time!!

Basically 50quid for a shirt with a name on this year (got Bullard- turns out jokes on me!) then you get the news that that shirt will be out of date in a few months. Not buying another one...I agree with 'beerhelps'

I received the away shirt for Christmas. It's nearly Feb and I ain't worn it due to poor design and poor quality.

I needed a key ring for a work thing, went on the ITFC shop online (As I am from Yorkshire) and I couldn't buy one...I had to go buy a Homer Simpson one from eBay.

Mr Hyde - The retail side of ITFC is a joke and the kits have been awful for several years and the new deal with Mitre is just pre-longing the agony

No wonder we sold Wickham and Walters and made a number profit of 46k.

Get real chaps - there's never a good time to announce news like this, but I think you're missing the fact that we're the last club in the top two divs to maintain a new shi every two years policy.

This move was always going to happen at some point, but credit where credit's due to the club for keeping the two year rotation as long as they have done.

"they were the only club in the top two divisions to change both their strips biennially"

Is this a good enough reason to make the change?? So now, in order to keep the cost of shirts competitive, supporters will be asked to buy twice as many.

Football is going down the pan and this dear club is fast following.
