Edwards: Town Hungry Like Wolves
Edwards: Town Hungry Like Wolves
Friday, 24th Feb 2012 07:30

Defender Carlos Edwards has likened in-form Ipswich to “a pack of Wolves” as they head for Brighton on Saturday in search of a fifth successive victory.

The Trinidad & Tobago international, who has captained his country and skippered Town in their last two outings, cites the belief gained from a storming 5-1 home win over Championship leaders West Ham United as the prime reason behind their recent revival.

Edwards said: “In my opinion we didn’t play as well against West Ham at our place as we did when we beat them 1-0 at Upton Park earlier in the season. But when you win 5-1 you think ‘If we can beat the leaders like that why should we fear anyone?’

“At the moment the guys are like a pack of wolves. The ball is the prey and it’s as if they see it, smell blood and say to themselves ‘We’re going to kill that ball’.

“I hope nobody takes their foot off the pedal just because we have won four in a row. I don’t see that happening because with the extra hunger they are displaying the guys are now saying they are aiming to qualify for the play-offs.

“That’s great, but if you asked me if we were safe from relegation I would have to say no because you never know what is round the corner in football. What I can say, however, is that as long as we keep scoring goals and keeping clean sheets anything is possible.”

Sounds like a blood bath on Saturday. Jewell will be throwing them raw meat from the touchline.

So that's Duran Duran's Hungry Like A Wolf being sung at Brighton. Easy to make words fit to that as well.

WED.

We just need somebody with access to a photocopy machine so we can get a few thousand copies of the chorus and we'll be we'll away

I feel a flood of Duran Duran songs coming on now.
Where's Rio Ferdinand when you need him.

I understand PJ likes Girls On Film, whereas Carlos prefers The Chauffeur.

Just as long as we're not hungry like the Wolves who were so bad they had to sack their manager...

Wow!
I don't even remember when I last read a post on here that made me smile as much as this one did!!!
Edwards' attitude and words have REALLY inspired me - I hereby PROMISE to not come on here whining about Jewell again and to get right behind this 'pack of wolves' as they tear into the rest of the season...

Jewell is here to stay and I'll accept that and channel my energies into supporting my beloved Town.

COYB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha somw brilliant quotes in there!

I'm in no doubt either that Phil picked that photo deliberately. He looks slightly wolf-ish.

Yes, I think Phil has photo shopped his ears to make them look pointy. So funny I've read it 5 times now.

Love these comments from CE. Let's keep him as captain for this year at least.

Don't like being negative but Leadbitter never comes across well on radio - although he can mumble "that's football" as well as anyone.

Football can be a simple game in hindsight, wanting to win the game more than the opponents is the basis of any victory, even if it doesn't always turn out that way. If we can combine work ethic (High fitness levels will greatly help) with fast improving quality then the possibilities are fairly endless, anything can happen on a matchday.... The possibility of us beating Barcelona and Man utd seems utterly ridiculous, but it's not impossible. Momentum is a matter of belief, and both the players and the managers job is to instill that in to themselves... Look at Stevenage, the prospect of 3 straight promotions still awaits.

Loving the passion and commitment, keep it up. Anyone who thinks PJ is not a good man manger (Jas???) can do one. You don't get that level of commitment from your players without having something about you!

Can agree, as the last three games that I watched (cov, pompey and cardiff) we have literally looked like "a pack of wolves". Feel he has done a better job than leadbitter has done in two games than what he did in a season. Blues look to be on the up and I hope that Jewell keeps the same team for as much as possible. Remeber when he changed the team around in Oct/Nov time and ipswich went from six unbeaten and 3rd in league to eight defeats and two wins in 16 and 21st. Jewell needs the players to keep calm and not get too cocky. COYB!!
