Kenny Latest Keeper Link
Kenny Latest Keeper Link

QPR’s Paddy Kenny is the latest keeper to be linked with a move to the Blues. The 34-year-old is expected to leave Loftus Road this summer with Leeds, managed by his Bury and Sheffield United mentor Neil Warnock, previously mentioned as his likely destination.

The Blues are said to be planning to make a £500,000 offer for Halifax-born Irish international Kenny, who has a year remaining on his contract.

Warnock, who signed the 6ft 1in tall keeper from non-league Bradford Park Avenue when manager of Bury, then took him Sheffield United and QPR, had been tipped to sign Kenny again this summer.

However, with talk of a possible takeover at Elland Road, the Whites are currently short of cash and were unable to complete their move for Portsmouth’s Joel Ward, who eventually joined Crystal Palace rather than Leeds or Town, who were also amongst the interested parties.

Town are very much in the market for a new number one with released Manchester United keeper Tomasz Kuszczak top of Paul Jewell’s wish-list but with top flight clubs in England and Germany also interested.

Watford’s Scott Loach, Manchester United youngster Ben Amos, former Aston Villa man Brad Guzan and Birmingham’s Colin Doyle have all also been linked.

Why no thanks Sindre? Has been an excellent keeper for most of his career; he certainly had his problems, but that period of his life seems to be well behind him now.
I would be very pleased to have him at Ipswich for the next 3/4 years.

Sound keeper and with a bit of character about him...but I think PJ and the ITFC backers are being a great deal more shrewd than they have been in the past about who they are going to sign...I get the feeling that we will hear about who we have signed rather than who we are linked with?

Some keepers make it to 40, not all of them.

34 is still old, whatever position you play in. Legs will be creaky by now and injuries are always likely at that age.

If I had to pick the ideal age for our new keeper I would say 29, hopefully with lots of experience around this level but still with a good few years ahead of him. That won't be easy to find though, let alone thrash out a deal for.

No thanks good shot stopper but not commanding enough for me.

I'm sure we'll be linked with every keeper on the market. Wouldn't be a bad choice, and I prefer to some others linked, but wouldn't be top of my list. Keepers often hit their prime in their early 30s so I'm not too bothered about the age, it's one position where more experience might be a good thing.

If we're going to buy somebody from QPR it should be Fitz Hall ( well he is a free transfer now). Kenny is a very good shot stopper (Zabaletta goal apart!) but I think we need a communicator and somebody to dominate the 18 yard box more.

He was easily the best keeper in the division with QPR two years ago. Anyone who thinks we can do better is, frankly, insane. Snap him up in a heartbeat if we can get him.

I'd expect him to go Leeds tho. Unless they can't afford him.

I would rather have any of the other keepers linked than him...and I'm not sure why. I don't doubt that he has been quality in the past, but I just wonder if his ability is going to drop off rapidly. Do a Bullard, so to speak. Having said that I've got a feeling that Jimmy is going to play an important role for us this year. His final charge for glory.

Got a feeling that any keeper will be linked with Ipswich as its known that we are after a keeper.

Got a feeling it will be someone that we have not really heard of

Can we PLEASE for the next few weeks cut out the word "linked" until we can come up with the words "have signed" . Would mean less news but it's starting to get boring.
