Nouble Agrees New Deal
Friday, 9th Aug 2013 15:02

Town have announced that striker Frank Nouble has agreed a new contract tying him to the Blues until the summer of 2015.

The 21-year-old joined Town for a fee of £25,000 in January when he put pen to paper on an 18-month deal.

Since then he has made seven starts and 12 sub appearances, scoring both his goals in the 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace in April.

Manager Mick McCarthy told the club site: “We took Frank from Wolves for next to nothing and we know he’s still got a lot of learning and improving to do.

“But what he’s shown is that he can be a real handful and we want to work with him and try and get that out of him week in, week out. I’m delighted he’s agreed to sign a new deal here.”

Although we may not have seen the best of him, he is obviously highly rated by McCarthy and this can only be a good thing to get our younger players on longer contracts, Hyam next please

Happy with this. MM has rebuilt a solid foundation at ITFC. Little things like players contracts being sorted out, good management.

Good news. Yet to really see what he is capable of but several bosses must've seen something in him.

£25,000... So we could've had 100 Frank Noubles for the price of one Lee Martin. Roy Keane's dealings looking more and more ludicrous all the time...!

A bargain for £25,000 and a show of confidence in him from mick.
Hopefully can push on from here and become a regular goal-scorer for town.

Only really seen him properly at Peterborough but he was our man of the match that day do if Mick and TC can get the best out of him then he could be a real player for us. Nice to see Mick not letting contracts run down too.

2 goals he got against Palace worth the fee on there own. Good luck Big Frank, i think in time you might do the sort of job Kuqi used to do.

Great news! I think he's more of an impact player at the moment, seems to struggle to find the space to work in when he starts games, but under TC's coaching i can see him becoming a fantastic all-round striker in the not to distant future...remember he's only 21!

Good news, I think he's better when he comes on off the bench but defiantly has a lot of potential

Against Birmingham on the last home game of the season he caused a lot of trouble for them, he had bags of energy and didn'y stop chasing the ball the whole game , hope to see more of the same this season !!!

You aren't kidding he has a load of improving to do, Mick! Let's hope he can push on and do what he's paid to do, score goals. Until he does that, I reserve judgement.

Absolutely top management in every way, including confirming this in a week when he'll be feeling a bit down - left out last Sat, and didn't do well (subbed) midweek. It'll be a big boost for him, and will encourage him to keep on learning and developing.

I am pleased about this as it shows management still have confidence in him, as I heard that his pre-season and Capital One Cup performances were very poor. I thought we had a star after that performance against Palace and I hope Frank can recapture those sort of displays for us soon.

Hyam next then tie Cresswell down for 2 more seasons atleast

I have only watched him away at Stevenage and he was very poor.

Saying that, he seems rated by a number of managers. Maybe he is just in the process of learning his game still.

Feel we haven't seen anywhere near his potential yet

All very well giving him the confidence of a longer contract , fact remains Nouble and Murphy are non - scoring strikers , and you don't win games unless you score goals. Simple as.

Against Stevenage he was about a foot taller than any of there defenders and he couldn't win a header to save his life...he's built like a brick Sh*t house and he was being out muscled every time...I'm not overly impressed with Mr Nouble so far...saying that I didn't realise he was only 21...he has alot of learning to do...

he needs to be played alot more, but 25k is a bargain for someone who eventually could develop into a top class striker

In my opinion there is quite a lot of room for improvement. As said by others at 6ft 3 he cant win a header to save his life and his decision making in the final third could be better at times, but he is young and like his mate JET he does have potential, which mick and TC seem to think they can bring out of him, so fingers crossed. Hope he proves the doubters wrong, me included coyb!!!

Think big Frank is missing his mate JET and maybe a bit choked that he was given the elbow by MM,which may account for poor performance on Tuesday.
JET seems to be doing well in Div1 with one goal and three assists.
I know its easier to beat players in Div 1 which I saw him do comfortably on Tuesday to lay on goal;but think we do need one or two players who are capable of taking on and beating their opponent. Our manager does not seem to have a place for even one flair player in his team which is a pity.

NoCanariesAllowed - and PJ's signings as well! Remember that he spent a lot of money on wages for injury prone has beens - who we then had to pay off. Let's not forget Chopra and JET as well ... don't disagree re Roy's signings - but PJ no better either! Worse probably.

Please come off the bench Saturday and score 20 goals in the second half to hush some of the numpties on here crying as we haven't got a twenty goal a season striker already 2 games into the new season!!!!

They say to be a master of any sport you have to have dedication, determination and desire. Frank has those in abundance. However what they don't say is you also need natural ability and technique too. Which Frank has very little. How many opposition fans will be looking at our team before we play them and thinking "oh I wish we has a Frank Nouble", or "oh god, Nouble's playing, he always scores against us". None. Being brutally honest he is a League One player. I want him to do well and I really like the guy, he can be a real pain in the a**se for defenders, and he works so hard. But he simply is not skilled enough, and I cannot see him getting that killer first touch or lethal finishing that all the top strikers have at this level when he is already 21. Will be an impact sub at best.
