Yeah I agree, surely Mick could give him a go in the 1st team now. We need goals badly & our strikers aren't banging them in at present,so worth a punt. He could be another Jordan Rhodes maybe! Still can't believe that tw*t Roy Keane let Rhodes go in the first place, so need his talent & goals now! How about even Connor Wickham back on loan, he's doing b*gger all @ Sunderland & has never been given the chance.

Maybe worth a place on the bench for the forthcoming two home games? Twenty minutes of enthusiastic confidence here and there could aid his development. It's what QPR did with Hitchcock!

As good as he looks for the future, i don't agree with the people saying play him now. Look at Josh Carson for example, brought into the side at 17 years old, thought he'd made it and switched off. I think Jack has the potential to be our next big thing with his goal scoring record. We've just got to be patient and let him develop first.

Just because Josh Carson didn't fulfil his potental at Town doesn't mean that Jack Marriott will go down the same road.

Personally I'll put him on the bench for the home games - if the more established players see an enthusiastic youngster on the bench ready to take their place then it could well spur them on as well. Also it'll show the other youngsters that if they perform MM won't be afraid to put them in the team.

In theory I agree with you but when Keane sold Rhodeswho did we get? Stern John on loan - and that really really annoys me

...actually I might well of got my facts wrong but Keane did replace Rhodes with below average players and so the point of being annoyed is still valid.

if he is a natural goalscorer and has that right place right time knack then stick him in.
some players will always score goals and marriot could well be in that mould.

Some players will offer a more all round side to there game but sometimes you need a player like darren bent-who seems to do very little on the pitch but always scores pleanty of goals

A couple of years ago Hyam was Paul Jewells saviour and this year Marriott could well be McCarthys. We desperately need to start scoring goals or we will be in a relegation battle again. Put him in and play him now. If you are good enough you are old enough, the great BR proved that to us time and time again. Mind you Bobby Robson had courage as well as ability. Now poor the minuses in - muts!

I like to see this kid given a couple of cameo run outs mid way through the second half of some home games. He can do little worse than the current strike force we have . But we (fans) must not look to these up and coming youngsters to dig the team out of a hole - that would be too much pressure/ expectation on them IMO

I think I got up to -12 on the Alan Lee thread for saying that Alan Lee ahead of Jack Marriott is a joke. What more does the boy have to do to get a look in?!

Lets put Marriot on loan for a few months at a league 1 team and see what he can do in an actual first team before we risk his confidence in the Towns first team, which seriously needs a more creative edge. If we put him in our first team too soon and he doesn't get any service, he won't score any goals, and then the crowd will grumble about him and bang goes his confidence. He needs to test his metal in the lower leagues to get used to this type of competitive atmosphere.

I for one would love to see another home grown talent rise to the top at Town, but lets make sure he's 100% ready.

So fed up of people raising the Jordan Rhodes thing over & over again. How many years ago was that? The Dark Lord did a lot wrong, but all I will say is that in his defence of Rhodes, he said he didn't have the resources to bring through 2 youngsters at the same time (Rhodes & Wickham) and so made a decision on who he felt could do more for ITFC going forward. He opted for Wickham and we got £12m for him - a figure that despite all his goals NOBODY has been prepared to pay for Jordan. So financially the argument can be made that Keane got it right. Irrespective of how you feel, they've both gone. Forever. MOVE ON!!!!!

Megamoth did you really get negative marks for suggesting Marriott should play ahead of Lee? I am a MASSIVE Mick McCarthy fan, not just for what he did for us last season but for his record at Sunderland/Wolves at this level too. However, if Alan Lee pulls on a first team shirt before Marriott then that is a massive concern. That said, MM is a top manager for a reason so he'll make the right choice, I'm sure.
