Murphy Interesting Hull Friday, 23rd Jan 2015 11:31 Hull City are reported to be showing interest in Town’s Championship top scorer Daryl Murphy.
The Premier League side have lost both Abel Hernandez and Nikica Jelavic to injury and, according to the Irish Independent, view 31-year-old Murphy, who has scored 18 goals so far this season, as a potential replacement.
Manager Mick McCarthy has repeatedly said that he doesn’t expect anyone to be sold during the January transfer window unless the club receives an “astronomical” offer.
Ireland international Murphy signed a new contract until the summer of 2016 with an option for a further season in July and is understood to have already begun talks regarding the extension of that deal.

Nope he's too important to us to be let go on the cheap and hull won't want to splash out too much because of his age. Won't happen

Good afternoon Gentlemen, Tis I of the Bullardine Era!! :-) I can 100% reassure you this is a Pile of Pap! We spunked £38m last Summer on players and apart from the odd loan and the "Emergency Fund" that is well and truly it. Thing is Murphy aint good enough for the Prem (we had a sniff at him in 2009 and decided that), he's currently doing great for you and therefore will be valued, and finally if we do spend anything this window it will be on N'Doye and/or Lennon. So Pannick Ye Not. Good luck in the second half. Thick Mick (no offence) is a cracking manager and with what he's done so far with so little, I hope he gets you up! TTFN

Wont happen, if they wont stump up 5/6 million for gestade then they wont for Murph. Hes in the best form of his career and will want to stay where that is hppening with the man thats made it happen

Not gonna happen. The fee we'd get for him at his age vs the value of him for a promotion push isn't worth thinking about.

Put a £15 Million transfer fee on him, that should scare them off!

Disastrous move for Hull and us!

As Walk the Wark and EssexnBlue have pointed out there is only so much left in Murphy and in this instance Mick's (nor Marcus's) view of an 'astronomical' valuation could be £5m, the signing of Sears starts to make even more sense now but the rough and tough striker to replace Murphy, if he goes, is yet to be found. Let the striker go round commence. Personally, when it stops, I hope Murphy is right here in the same position he started.

Nobody in their right mind would take a chance on a striker who has discovered the golden touch at the age of 31... at least not for the kind of money that would even begin to interest us. As someone else already said, he's worth far more to us than to anyone else. Nothing to see here. Move along.

championship is murphys level plain and simple, we need to him to continue firing in the goals this season and then if we go up he may have to look elsewhere for a move as he wont be good enough to score goals in the premier. Hope I'm proved wrong as I didn't think he would be banging them in this season to be fair. Oh and hull are dog awful so why would he want to go there and babysit until jelavic comes back?

Think his agent fueling rumours to get him a better deal. Come on Murphy you know where you need to stay.

Erm why would he? Hes been with celtic and Scumberland yet comes back to Ipswich,

Can we send them Taylor with a Murphy mask on? Think it would be a mistake to sell Murphy given our league position if we have any ambition of a top 2 or 6 position, if anything we need another Murphy type player as cover in case he gets injured or loses form.
flashblue added 15:58 - Jan 23
Of course he would go if it was possible. Can't believe people suggesting otherwise. It will be a question of the fee but if it were say 7m then yes we would sell.

Lowestoft- agree with most of what you say, bar the first bit. Murphy isn't Priemership class unfortunately. This will be our problem if promoted- McGoldrick, Berra, poss Smith and Chambers, def Bishop and Mings the only Prem quality players we have at the moment
Hegansheroes added 17:37 - Jan 23
Walk the Wark totally agree as I posted yesterday but slated. Certainly our mid field players aren't prem standard with the exception of TB Don't think Chambers is either good at this level & very like MM when he was a player, would be given hell in the Prem.

At 31,if you had the chance to treble your wages would'nt anybody in there right mind give it considerable thought.Having said that I cannot see Hull offering more than 3 m.and for that he is worth more to us.I think he would struggle in the Hull team.
Warkys_Tash added 19:21 - Jan 23
Murph stay with us, a Hull are a smaller club & on their way down - Hopefully we will pass them on the way up

tell him they can have him and mick mccarthy for $10m..its time to change while we are ahead of the pack...whats the dark lord doing at the moment ?
dirtydingusmagee added 12:24 - Jan 25
cant understand people saying sell at a price .WHY ?he is top scorer, is a major reason we are in the good position we are in.Who would we get to replace him that is better ?or likely to improve our our chance of going up .IF the Club sells i would be very dissapointed ,it would be money over ambition, if there is no ambition, whats the point, and whats the point in following a team with no ambition .
Blue041273 added 09:55 - Jan 26
Why question the ambition? We could have sold Mings & McGoldrick last summer. Why worry that we might sell a striker that is on course for 25-30 goals this season. Mr Evans has a real chance of achieving his dream of Premier League riches. Why weaken or dilute those possibilities? Onwards and upwards brethren. We are going up!
