Five Changes at Hull
Tuesday, 20th Oct 2015 19:04

Town boss Mick McCarthy has made five changes for this evening’s game at Hull City with Giles Coke, Jonny Parr, Kevin Bru, Larsen Touré and Daryl Murphy all starting.

Cole Skuse (ankle) and David McGoldrick (groin) both miss out due to injury with Freddie Sears, Brett Pitman and Ainsley Maitland-Niles dropping to the bench.

The Blues look set to line-up in a 4-3-3 with Murphy in the centre of the front three with Parr on the left and Touré on the right and Coke, Douglas and Bru the midfield trio.

Skuse and McGoldrick both travelled and the injuries aren't thought to be serious. Ryan Fraser (knee), Tommy Oar (concussion), Luke Hyam (knee) and Teddy Bishop (hamstring and shin splints) are all unavailable.

Former Town loanee Jake Livermore starts for the Tigers, while ex-Blues defender Alex Bruce and one-time trialist Eldin Jakupović are on the bench.

Hull City: McGregor, Odubajo, Dawson (c), Davies, Robertson, Meyler, Livermore, Elmohamady, Clucas, Akpom, Hernandez. Subs: Jakupović, Bruce, Huddlestone, Maguire, Maloney, Diamé, Aluko.

Town: Gerken, Chambers (c), Smith, Berra, Knudsen, Coke, Bru, Douglas, Touré, Parr, Murphy. Subs: Bialkowski, Maitland-Niles, Pitman, Sears, Malarczyk, McDonnell, Emmanuel. Referee: Christopher Kavanagh (Lancashire).

Not one to be negative but unless AMN and Sears are carrying knocks too I find this selection from Mick very unusual.

They were two of the brightest players on the park (from a poor bunch) at the weekend.

Skuse will be missed more than McGoldrick, he is underrated by many, and in my opinion one of our best players, saved us with defensive tackles too many times in this season.

A hard task away against a good Hull side has just been made harder, but let's get behind the boys tonight!

COYB!

If it is 433 then perhaps skuse and Goldies injuries (short term i hope) are a blessing in disguise

Injuries mounting up and all of a sudden our squad looks limited in some positions. Coke and Toure start. Not for me I'm afraid, but i sincerely hope both score. Line up looks like a defensive formation. Playing for a draw. Frustrate and hope for a win. Let's hope we get three much needed points.

It's 4-5-1 really let's be honest.

I see this more of a 4-5-1.. Parr left toure right.. Not wanting to get beat which is ok away to a side like hull.. Prem last year.. Well organised and a good defensive unit in Dawson and Davies BUT you have to win your home games against sides like Bristol City and Huddersfield! Take a point right now! Hull will be up there come May!

It's not 433 it's 451 with Murphy the lone striker.

Strange Line up is an understatement but at least we have a bit of change, even if its not in all the right areas

Delighted to see changes but looks to be forced more than optional. This looks like a 4-5-1 sit back, defend firstly and hit long to murph to me but I so hope I'm wrong.

Well said Kirbmeister! I wish everyone would stop their moaning!!! After 11 games last season Bournemouth were 11 with 15 points, 1 point less than we have now!! Judge MM at the end of the season.....until then support your team!!!

Pretty obvious that Mick was saving Murph and Bru for tonight.

Mainland Niles got whacked pretty hard on Sat and I guess MM is thinking 3 games on the trot for him and Freddie is too much. I expect they will both return Sat.

Should get a 1-1 tonight I hope but like every game in the Championship anything could happen

I personally think we'll be playing with wing backs tonight. Hull often play that way and that formation would make the most sense to me with the players available. The only player out of position would be Toure but with others injured I think he's filling the 3rd CM spot. But could be totally wrong!!

Well according to many who are blubbing that Bru SHOULD be playing on a regular basis, he's picked, so lets see what he can do!

Very bizarre side this. Pleased for Coke as feel he's deserved a go - Parr on a wing is interesting. COULD be another 0-0 this, we're clearly going to frustrate Hull so lets hope for another Leeds 1-0 on the way.

So Parr out of position and AMN on the bench. If we paly 433 against their 5 man midfield we will get murdered!!

Thought he wouldn't make wholesale changes? do we not have any midfielders/ wingers better than Parr? MM really has lost the plot

suddenly , without a game for weeks , bru and coke are shoved into the midfield and expected to perform miracles in 5 man midfield. very very poor management

Well Mick said Saturday that his team became difficult to beat after 15 mins;well today set up for a draw which I am sure Mick would take before he got on the bus.

Well it is heartening that Mick has actually changed his formation by looks of it and not set up to match Hull, or could it be that our Manager, who is back in his home(and Gods)county;has been clever as Steve Bruce has set up 442 which his mate usually plays.

Pleased that K evin Bru and Jonny Parr have at last been given a game, not so sure about Coke though, and to a lesser extent Toure. Will he be taking corners I wonder?lol

No McGoldrick , Douglas plays and Coke plays AMN dropped. He's lost the plot I'm afraid
