Town Linked With Loan Move for Fulham Striker
Wednesday, 28th Dec 2016 16:01

Town are reportedly keen to sign Fulham striker Cauley Woodrow on a six-month loan.

According to The Sun, former England U17, U20 and U21 international Woodrow is top of the Blues’ January wish-list and will available on a short-term deal.

The 22-year-old is out of favour at Craven Cottage with his last appearance having come in the EFL Cup defeat to Bristol City in September, while he has made only one Championship start this season.

The 6ft ½in tall striker played youth football with Spurs, Buckhurst Hill and Luton - with whom he made his first three senior appearances as a sub in the FA Trophy - before joining the then-Premier League Whites in March 2011 for a fee which was set to hit seven figures after top-ups.

Having spent time out on loan with Southend in League Two, where he made 10 starts and 12 sub appearances, scoring four times, Hemel Hempstead-born Woodrow made his Premier League debut for Fulham in a 3-1 defeat at Cardiff in March 2014.

Woodrow, who is contracted to Fulham until June 2018 with the club having an option for a further season, has made 28 starts and 37 sub appearances for the Whites, scoring 12 goals.

A striker to replace Daryl Murphy, who departed for Newcastle towards the end of the summer transfer window, is the Blues' top priority during January.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth sources have confirmed that the deal which saw Adam Webster join the Blues from Pompey in the summer included a clause which will see the League Two club receive 20 per cent of the Blues' profit if the centre-half is sold.

Webster, who was signed for a fee of £700,000 plus Matt Clarke, has been linked with a number of Premier League sides in recent weeks, including Sunderland and Everton, but Town are unlikely to sell during the January window.

Why do we want somebody who cannot even get into the Fulham first team!! Just about sums this club up.!!

10 goals in 73 career games. Good enough to start one game for Fulham this season. We are desperate, aren't we?

Can't see the point of playing other people's promising players. Why not play ours! Ben Morris comes to mind. Oh yeah I forgot we have got the dinosaur still in charge no chance of that happening. Or buy a promising youngster from lower league.

We don't need more players from Championship reserve teams.

Would be an improvement on what we have up top.. but I think we all need to hear about some permanent signings. Loans will not save us. We need to at least try to build a team.

No disrespect for the lad but this rumour is absolutely pathetic! Really sums up this club at the minute. No ambition what so ever! Loan signings are the absolutely pointless, only gain is the parent club! Players getting experience and wages off that's all they are good for, in any case the young players that are here are having any talents drilled out of them by the dinosaur!

These are the only types of payers we will attract while we have the reputation we do under Mick. Evans dosent care so we can't afford anyone better even if they were atracted to the club.

Maybe the sort of player that you'd sign as back up but if he can't get into Fulham's first 11 then surely we need better. I'd only take him if we got rid of Best and Reg but like BP says why not give Ben Morris a chance, he scores and is OURS!!

Yawn!.. if we are to go down the loan route (which I'm against) you'd think we'd be looking at the Premiership clubs for a six month deal, must be money talking again.

Another loan? And don't we already have enough strikers signed by this manager pitman, mcgoldrick, Sears, best, varney and Lawerence. Surely we need a pacy winger and someone to supply him with the ball!!

Blue75 we already have two wingers in Lawrence and Ward the trouble is Ward has been ruined by trying to turn him into defensive mode.

Although this is just a link to us at the moment, unfortunately this type of player is about all we are likely to attract. Very sad days!

Stick Berra up top. Won't make defense or attack any worse and should to able to get his head to the lumps forward.
