Town Target Reciprocal £25 Away Price Cap
Friday, 30th Jun 2017 16:03

Town have announced that they have written to their fellow Championship clubs to try to arrange a reciprocal price cap of £25 on away match tickets.

The Blues have offered to put a ceiling of £25 on away seats at Portman Road for a rival club's fans if they agree to do the same when Town visit their stadium.

“Supporters travel 1,000s of miles every season watching their club so we listened to feedback from both our own fans and those of visiting opposition teams and decided to initiate a price cap,” the Blues’ director of retail operations, Lee Hyde, told the club site.

“We have contacted virtually every club in the Championship with the reciprocal offer and we have already received very positive feedback.""

“The contact with clubs has only just been made over the last 24 hours or so but already six clubs have come back and agreed and others have expressed interest, so there are encouraging signs that we can achieve something.”

""The £25 price for away fans at Portman Road will only apply if the opposition agree to the same when Blues fans visit their stadium otherwise they will pay the standard price.

Is it just me, or do the club seem to be trying to win the fans back....?

For someone like me who does 12-15 aways a season, cracking idea from town.

This has been a good month for the relationship between fans and the management.

Maybe a £25 cap on home fans too, many of us travel a long way to PR

Good plan. Not being ungrateful but £20 would have been a much better incentive.

Why not synchronise with the premier league away day ticket thing and cap it at £20?

Certaimly something i likebthe sound off. Well done TOWN.They should sign up to the 20isplenty scheme. A £20 max ticket price would be a bonus and as a long time season ticket holder I wouldn't complain with a fuller or indeed full ground.

All I have is an image of Marcus Evans kidnapped.

Kidnapper: Spend some money...
Evans: Ok ok, here's £1m for Joe Garner and have a bit extra for more bids.
Kidnapper: Cap away fans seats at £25
Evans: £25! how will we surv...
Kidnapper: £25 or we will show McCarthy the door...
Evans: Ok £25, just don't hurt my Mick.

Keep it up Mr. Kidnapper!

Doesn't quite fit the '£20's plenty' campaign, but fantastic to see us on the front foot for a change.
I am pleased that at last, that the club seems to be prepared to lead not follow.
Credit where it's due.
£25 to see Town play attacking football, score goals, entertain and send the opposition home on the wrong end of a spanking, is a much better proposition for away supporters than charging them £30+ to watch the desperate fayre/boring nil nil spectacles we forced them to witness last season!

Wow, what has happened over the close season? This is much more like the Ipswich approach, long may it continue!!

Finally! A great step by the club. It was really embarrassing. For me this as important as splashing the cash.

....loving the positive news ...let's hope last season was the kick up the bum this club needed ...without a consequence that none of us would have wanted (lg1)
....getting my diary back out ...might add a couple mor to the list of "going to "

The club is taking the lead here too by encouraging other clubs to do the same. Have to be applauded for that

Best thing I've read from Town for ages. Agree with those who say we should have gone the whole hog and signed up to 20's plenty but a step in the right direction.

£20 is plenty but it's easier to do when you're getting millions from being in the Premier league.

Good idea from Towen, keep up with the positives 👍🏻

This is the sort of news we haven't heard since Bowden was CEO, maybe Evans is using him to mentor Ian Milne?! Well done to TWTD/Phil for continuing to send the fans' surveys in to Town - they may have finally read them. Persistence pays...

Excellent news for travelling fans & a really great decision by the club who for once seemed to have put fans before money. Well done to all concerned & hopefully all clubs will sign up for it

Correct me if I'm wrong but are there not that may clubs who charge much more than that for an away ticket in the championship anyway!? Apart from us! Seems a bit pointless!

Town4me, there are plenty. Forest, Leeds, Wednesday, Scum. Just to name a few. I've paid between 30 and 40 to go to their grounds, I refused to go to Norwich last season solely based on price!
