Knudsen: I Don't Like the Way Fans Treated Mick
Friday, 20th Apr 2018 11:57

Defender Jonas Knudsen has issued a staunch defence of former manager Mick McCarthy and says he’s unhappy with the way supporters treated him prior to his recent Portman Road exit.

“Some fans don’t want to hear it but everybody here loved Mick and nobody wanted him to leave,” The Danish international, who admitted earlier in the month that McCarthy’s exit could have some impact on his future, told The Sun.

“I don’t like the way they treated him - if you look at what he had done for the club, they have to be pleased with that.

“But they don’t want to hear that and it wasn’t right the way they did it. If we didn’t have him last year, we could have been in trouble. Maybe they have to be careful what they wish for.”

Knudsen, 25, was signed by McCarthy in the summer of 2015 from hometown club Esbjerg fB.

Hahah, if it wasn't for McCarthy it could have been worse? So you've basically coalled yourself crap at football and McCarthy is the only manager who can get you playing "average" because that's all McCarthy is Knudsen is really, blasting he fans now for a second time, really can't see him being "popular" much longer ofr even at town much longer, he's far from unreplacable, myles his hot on his toes at a younger age anyway.
BUT OF COURSE PLAYERS WHO ARE REGULARS IN MCCARTHYS TEAM WILL BE UPSET BECAUSE THEY KNOW IN A BETTER TEAM THEY WONT PLAY PROBABLY DONT WANNA PUSH FOR PROMOTION ANYWAY BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEYD BE REPLACED

He has a point and it's a point which he has made before. But if someone asked him a question then he has a right to answer it honestly.

Be interesting to see if Mick makes a bid for him, as well as Skuse etc, if he finds himself at a championship club.

So what on earth happened to Klug's heartfelt request for EVERYONE involved with ITFC to put the circumstances surrounding MM leaving behind us once and for all. We need to all unite as one moving FORWARD now. These sort of incendiary comments from the players, no matter their individual personal views, are really not helpful to air in public and do nothing but pick at the scab of a very recently healing wound.

Like it or not MM has gone and he isn't coming back so can we all please accept this fact and get on with recreating a united club again inclusive of staff, players and fanbase alike.

I don't care if you like it or not Knudsen and frankly your constant backside kissing of McCarthy is getting boring........ If you want follow him out of the door then see you later, you will be easily replaced

Bye then, when will players learn to zip it. Concentrate on what your paid to do. Paying public have a right to have an opinion.

What on earth is he on!

He's managing himself out of the door.

Shut-up and play football.

Mick opened the door to the abuse he got by swearing at fans and swearing and disrespecting fans in his interviews. I hated the abuse he got but I hated more him decription of fans after the Newcastle game. It was just so wrong and inappropriate when I consider the lovely people I sit with. I have no doubt he was a good manager and the staff at the club liked him but he is not suited to the media age. I am glad to see him go even if this means we will struggle next season. I just hope the club can recover from the divide he created between fans and club. Klug is right fixing this is the most important thing right now.

Sorry Jonas, but our fans don't like hearing the truth....

Supporters pay the wages so have a right to moan, if MM had stopped saying how good the opponents were before every game, and not played for a 0-0 every game he might have got a new contract.
All we ever wanted was to see him play was some entertaining football.
Problem with Jonas he is MM type of hoff ball player and a new Manager hopefully will play decent football and Jonas will struggle to get a game.

Get lost Knudson idiotic to come out with this he should just leave and take all the mick brown noses with him .
And people say the minority wanted mick out when he took over we averaged 22000 now lucky to get 9000 so dont think its much of a minority

I don't think players should comment like Jonas has done. I agree that MM received some unnecessary personal abuse, but he lost the fans and had to go.
The club really need someone to come in who will bring professionalism and integrity. Negative 'talk' between the club and supporters is detrimental to the team's on pitch success. Marcus Evans is the person I believe who could have stopped the rot weeks ago. He now needs to get back to basics - repair the damage between club and supporters, appoint the right manager and be more transparent about his ambitions for the club (be seen!).
I have high hopes for the future of our great club and look forward to hearing from the new manager when he is appointed.

I swear it ITFC is not a normal club, if you think got MM got “horrendous abuse” your having a laugh, all these “happy clappy everything was brilliant true blue I don't swear and criticise” I'm not sure what these people see, I'd 80% plus wanted MM out, some more vocal than others.

Knudsen is a plank and an average plank at that, but I'm sure when pep McCarthy takes over at Arsenal, he will be first on the wanted list.

No doubt Knudsen has McCarthys speed dial number, has not done himself or the club any favours. We have to move on and back Klug and his team until we get a new manager.

Yet again wide ranging views but little realism in the middle.
Those that claim it is undroppable players trotting out these positive MM views are telling half the story themselves. In the last two days Cotter, Nash, Klug who are not players, in safe jobs or just starting in the game have also given praise to MM as has Nydham.
The so called supporters that made the atmosphere undeniably toxic have every right to express opinion however this did not help the team in any way and therefore performances became more nervous and poor not just due to tactics. In the last two years I would say 8 out of the 10 best performances have been away, this says something about support.
It was time for a change and it is right that views can be expressed, but lets not slate players or staff for stating loyalty to someone who clearly did the man management side of the job right. I believe we are better than when he joined but glad he has gone. Everybody bar fans are replaceable but we should all join to get the best out of each other.

Just when we thought we could start to move on !!

Smacks of a VERY average player worried about being found out.

MM leaves the club in a better state than he joined no doubt. But that isn't enough and his arrogant foul mouth towards fans was inexcusable.

Shut up and get on with your job at least until MM turns up somewhere & you can follow him. Till then no doubt you'll keep the wages ITFC pay you Jonas !!

I'm starting to get bored of this talk about Mick...he's now history so we should now move on and that includes the players putting a zip on it (particularly Chambo, Knuds and Skusey).

No further questions.
Bye Mick.

And we dont like the way he treated us, remember that or do you think his attitude to us was ok?

Remember the fans pay your wages, so button it!

Ok. I think it's time for a little reality check for some people on here.

People calling for a clear out - This club can't afford to have a big clear out. If there is so much 'deadwood' that we have to clear out, who are all sooo rubbish...how do we expect to get anything like a decent fee for them?

If get rid, we have to replace with better. But where is the money coming from for better? Who are we going to get money from that we can reinvest in new talent? Well it isn't going to be for players like Skuse, Chambers, Knudsen. The only clear out that will create capital for us to see off actual assets. People other clubs see as potential stars. So the likes of Dozzell Bart and some of our younger talent. Even a more proven player like Huws might not be high on other clubs shopping lists...over the last few seasons what he's really shown is how injury prone he is. No one wants to pay big money for that.

Sooo... if it's a clear out you want, where does that leave us? We get rid of 3 or 4 senior pros but have no money to replace them with better talent. Or we sell off the crown jewels and hope to replace them with better, which is always a long shot.

Think about it.

I never booed MM or TC and although I've never met them I'm sure they're pretty decent chaps but I was an advocate of a change of management which for better or worse is happening and will make things different at Portman Road. I understand some of the players are grieving for the departure of someone they clearly liked working with BUT do they not understand that the fans are grieving for a club that has been playing awful boring football for a good while now. Let's hope someone the players enjoy working under and who can give supporters football worth turning up for is just round the corner.

What I'm wishing for...not to have to watch Jonas lump the ball aimlessly down the line for 90 minutes
