Blues and Villa Linked With Rangers Keeper Foderingham
Friday, 6th Jul 2018 09:06

Town and Aston Villa are reported to be showing interest in keeper Wes Foderingham, who is expected to leave Rangers this summer.

The 27-year-old has been told he is now the third choice at Ibrox behind Allan McGregor and Jak Alnwick having been their regular number one since signing on a free transfer from Swindon in 2015 and looks all but certain to move on this summer.

According to the Scottish Daily Star, Villa and Town are both willing to offer the Hammersmith-born one-time Fulham trainee a chance to return to England this summer.

Former England U16, U17 and U19 international Foderingham, who is contracted to Rangers until the summer of 2020, has also spent time with Bromley (two loan spells), Crystal Palace, Boreham Wood (loan) and Histon (loan).

The 6ft 1in tall keeper was previously mentioned in connection with the Blues back in 2014, although Town's reported interest was played down.

The Blues currently have no goalkeeping vacancy, however, it’s widely expected that there will be interest in first choice Bartosz Bialkowski, who celebrates his 31st birthday today.

Bialkowski, currently away having been given time off following Poland's World Cup exit, is contracted to the Blues until next summer, the club having exercised the option for a further year at the end of last season.

The former Southampton and Notts County man is still to put pen to paper on the new deal ex-boss Mick McCarthy said had been agreed in January.

Speaking in April, Bialkowski said his agent was continuing to talk to Blues owner Marcus Evans.

Why has Bart been given time off? He didn't play and was effectively on holiday in Russia for a couple of weeks. Surely he ought to be back at work now unless they are trying to keep him sweet. Either way I expect him to be gone if not now certainly in January.

Personally if an offer in the region on 8-10 millio comes in for bart I'd take it and run. From my understanding Sam walker is a free with gerkin bein a more than ample championship goalie.

Well if we sign him, that will indicate to us all that Bart is on his way. He's not going to leave Rangers to come and play second fiddle with Gerken down here, he'll want assurances that he'll be playing.

Carsy- He didn't play but was training everyday.... isn't he entitled to go away from football for a while and perhaps take a family holiday? Glad you aren't my boss

Interestingly Crystal Palace who have been the club most strongly linked with Crystal Palace have signed Vicente Guaita from Getafe on a free transfer. If Bart is to move on I'm sure he would want to be a first choice somewhere. Palace have Guaita and Hennessey now as keepers so can't see them needing another keeper surely? Lets hope Bart signs that contract when he's back from his holidays.

Bart is gone in my opinion. What other reason is there for him not signing a new contract.

Not going to happen. Have you not noticed how we ALWAYS massively undervalue our players and get mugged off? He will go for about 3-4million max.
Footy on the cheap as always, it won't end well...

If a premiership club come in with a decent offer and Bart wants to take the opportunity then it would be unfair to stand in his way. You also have to take into consideration he is now entering the final year if his contract and can walk away for nothing at the end of next season.

We always get mugged off. We will probably end up only getting 4-5 million for Bart or something ridiculous like that. Why we undervalue our players I don't know. Sadly, that's one thing Norwich tend to do better than us.

The last two seasons Bart has been worth a huge amount of league points. He must have prevented 20 or more certain goals with outstanding saves. A striker scoring 20 goals would be worth twice as much. I've never understood that. I'd love Bart to stay but the guy deserves a chance at a higher level. Having said that I'd hate to see him sitting on the bench for another club.

Last year of contract if he wants to go take 4 mil. Thays football.

Where are all those multi millionaire investors Toxteth? Though you had a bunch lined up witj mega bucks to invest?

As others have said, I imagine Bart wants first-team football wherever he goes, and I can't see a Premier League team where that is a clear-cut thing (although he'd be an upgrade at Liverpool!). I think it's more likely that he goes to one of the wealthier Championship teams–e.g., West Brom who have just sold Ben Foster to Watford (for £4m).

We need centre-backs and wingers, possibly a target man.

We do not need full-backs, midfielders or goalkeepers (unless Bart moves on).

We have a multi million pound investor, it's just that he isn't investing. Many Town fans apparently too sleepy to care though...
