Town Eyeing Carter-Vickers Return
Sunday, 19th Aug 2018 11:37

TWTD understands Town are keen to bring Tottenham centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers back to Portman Road on loan.

Carter-Vickers, 20, enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell with the Blues during the second half of last season, making 17 starts.

The four-times-capped US international is currently out with a groin injury but it’s not expected to sideline him for long.

EFL clubs have until the end of the month to sign players on loan with a central defender and a striker on Blues boss Paul Hurst’s wish list.

Town are also reported to have recently renewed their interest in Blackpool centre-back Curtis Tilt - in whom Wigan are also said to have shown interest - but speaking yesterday Hurst said there had been no new developments on that front.

“Nothing’s changed in terms of him being a player that I like,” he said. “But as far as I’m aware nothing’s changed on that situation.”

The Blues also made a move to sign AFC Wimbledon skipper Deji Oshilaja late on the final day of the transfer window but were unable to agree a fee for the 25-year-old.

Hurst subsequently said it’s unlikely that Oshilaja would join on loan: “I’m not sure whether a loan deal would be happening there.”

This would be the signing of the summer if we can get him back, makes me think Luke Chambers' time at the club is slowly coming to an end.

Yes please, was a solid defender. Although I'd be surprised if he come here with the intention with sitting on the bench behind Toto and Chambo. Would still love to see him here again though

I would always prefer Town made a permanant signing rather than a loan deal, BUT I would 100% support a return for CCV. Please get this deal done.

Reuserscurtains, we do have 2 “proper strikers” at the club.
At the moment they're not getting the best possible service are they?
Let's give the team a few games together shall we?

About time, should have been the first signing the day we could sign players

This will no doubt get a load of down votes but...

Would much rather Tilt.
CCV is good, but someone taller and also has a left foot would be of more use with our current weaknesses.
Chambo does his best on the left of the two at the back but I've noticed that he keeps slicing it with his left foot under pressure or pushes the ball into the middle when running back one on one. We've also seemed a tad fragile from set plays that get crossed in, especially on that side. Not a dig at Chambo, he's naturally suited to the other side.
I wouldn't sacrifice Nsiala's height, and don't think he'd solve the unnatural right foot on left side issues if he took Chambo's place. We'd just lose one of the few experienced voiced in the side. Can't see Spurs or CCV being happy with sitting on a bench either.

Please, please, please make this happen. As joyful as it is watching our new eager recruits, we do need the bulk and experience of CCV in a traditional centre half position.

Carter Vickers would be the loan signing we need, with a view to permanent move would be even better.

Quality defender, would defo have him back here. Would love it if we could make it permanent in jan but thats unlikely. Another striker on loan would be good, who though?

Carter-Vickers would definitely get me on side don't mind a couple of loans as it gives us the opportunity to get players in we otherwise couldn't afford

The Villa scorer had it too comfortable. Fingers crossed we improve on that front

I'd love this to happen. CCV is going to be a top class CB for years to come.

I'd love to see him back at PR, really liked what I saw of him last season. Adds defensive quality without question.

If he's available and willing to return - to play - than it's really a no brainier. Don't think there's realistically much prospect of making it a perm deal; but his ability, experience and hunger to play regularly would make us more solid.

Assuming Nsiala keeps his place, and we don't go to 3 at the back, CCV would presumably replace LC; which from a playing viewpoint wouldn't be disastrous. What would be lost, however, would be the only natural leader and on-field organiser we have. Need someone to step up and help with that part of the game.
