Town are reported to have put a £750,000 price tag on midfielder Alan Judge, leading to speculation that it could end QPR’s pursuit of the 30-year-old.

According to Sky Sports, the Blues have told the West Londoners, who have made bids of £250,000 and £450,000, that £750,000 is the Republic of Ireland international’s price, which they suggest may end their interest in the former Brentford man.

Judge’s former Bees’ boss Mark Warburton is keen to bring the midfielder, pictured above at yesterday's Open Day with Emyr Huws, to Loftus Road, while the player has told Blues manager Paul Lambert that he would be interested in the switch.

Speaking yesterday, Lambert said nothing would happen unless Town were offered an acceptable fee for Judge, who signed a new two-year deal in April.

“I think the offer that’s been made is nowhere near what [owner] Marcus [Evans] is looking for so there’s not any real great news on that side of it. The ball is in QPR's court really,” he said.

“Marcus knows what I think with the whole scenario and it’s up to QPR to come up with the money that Marcus thinks is acceptable.”

QPR have recently received transfer fees of £4.9 million for Luke Freeman, from Sheffield United, and £1.5 million for Darnell Furlong, from West Brom, however, their financial situation continues to be affected by January’s £42 million settlement of their FFP breach.

The whole “player wants to move closer to home/family” thing always makes me laugh too - So if Barcelona offered him a loan for the season would he turn them down cos his family live in London?!...maybe it's time we gave players a geography exam before signing them.

The question I raise would be how much would a replacement cost us given our spending power, therefore we must now keep our assets and get him to honour the contract he signed with better terms than his original one. Things we do not know is whether promises were made to bring players in if he signed or whether a change of family circumstances may have changed the landscape. Unfortunately we only know what comes through the rumour mill.

How's losing a key player for £750k going to help us so close to the start of the season, especially when PL already says we need 3 in ASAP. Tell QPR he's not for sale, tell Judge to man up and honour his contract. If he sulks he trains with the U18s like other clubs make players do.

DurhamTownFan added 12:15 - Jul 26 Sorry, but we are where we are, people. When we got relegated I think a few people thought it would be all fun and games. Fact is, were less attractive to play for than clubs in the leagues above, due to money and footballing reasons. You can't expect to go down and keep your best players, and your bargaining position is weaker. 750 sounds awful, but it's where we are right now. Look at the fees we spent last summer on players from L1: about the same there.

Or another loan to build the team and fall apart at the end of the season? No thanks. No, £1m plus add ons would be my absolute minimum.

PortmanTerrorist added 12:53 - Jul 26 $750k is ridiculous. Even $3m, if reinvested, cannot change our League 1 position and who might even consider joining us. A bit like Zaha whose value should be calculated on what price Palace staying in Pfrem, our price on Judge should be based on the value of him getting us promoted (and passing QPR on route). Given that, and the fact that no money can replace Judge's quality, why price him any less than $3m ?
