Once again you did your role with honour and professionalism. Being part of you when I first left school was the best part of my life. Fantastic job.

Hurt during an incident which meant I spent a few months in hospital and I didn't think i could recover enough from it to fulfil my dream of being a pilot. Stupid decision made by me but I had a child on the way so thought it best to move on and make sure I could progress in a role which would provide for the family

Bit of an assumption there Mr B. I’m assuming most people can separate their feelings about the political decisions to use force and the people who are on the front line. Much like the admiration for frontline NHS staff despite government’s attempts to hsmstring them whenever possible.

There are certain people on here who detest the armed forces. These same people are only allowed to freely opinion their views because of the action of our armed forces.

I don’t think anyone here hates the armed forces. I think some people have a problem with the politicians who send them to conflict on the back of little or no evidence.

Indeed, but one can still question our government policy regarding the use of our forces.

One of the biggest problems these days is the loss of any collective responsibility. It's not my decision, so it's nothing to do with me, kind of thing. Family and friends, people I love, moan about stuff but don't actually do anything about it, or even TRY and do anything.

Actually this has probably always been the case and nothing to do with these days.

One of these days.... ;)

Really? The actual individuals in the forces or just the concept of us using them? Seems to me like a lot of selfless service goes on. These people put their lives on the line at the whim of their political masters - I’ve huge respect for that. I’m still able to believe that we should look wherever possible to resolve conflicts through diplomacy. The 2 aren’t conflicting views.

My grandfather was in lancasters in WW2. If it wasn’t for the actions of him and his colleagues, it could be a very different world (although their ‘day job’ was horrific- it affected him deeply for the rest of his life; as I say, he literally put his life on the line and sacrificed his subsequent mental state. You have to respect that).

Peace and prosperity for the many - war and profit for the few that is the stark reality of the choice that has been made.

The services!
Because of recent posts such as these;

"At least Trump will nuke the sh!tehole of a country before the world cup starts"

"Corbyn i think planned it in the hope to bring Israel into it and Russian attacks Israel, he hates the Jews"

I assumed some jingoistic flag waving was being indulged in (never a good look) and trolling, hence my reply.....I'm kind of glad he never got to be a tooled up pilot!
