Highlight of the season 18:31 - May 9 with 6126 viewsCheshire_Tractor

Aside from MM leaving and the change in mood that brought, what has been the highlight of the season?

For me it has to be Iorfa's comedy of errors in the fa cup game. Amongst the comedy one man show, at one point he was off the pitch after treatment waiting for the ref to beckon him on. Each time the ref did, it was at the moment he looked away. Must have missed the signal about half a dozen times. Ha ha ha

Got to be Millwall away for me. Great game, lots of optimism.
The last 20 minutes at Reading were good fun.
Also, Celina's late winner at Burton after McCarthy had stubbornly refused to bring him on.
McCarthy lost me completely at that game.

Crystal Palace away, watching our youngest ever line up match premier league opposition for 75 minutes, a great insight what was to come for some of those players who after this we got to see a lot more of in the season.

I would have to agree. For whatever reason, the players went out on that balmy evening & just went all out attack. It was end to end, it was entertaining, it was defensively flawed (from both sides) & it's a shame that insane high tempo was clearly unsubstainsble over a full season.

That was great. It was such a hot day on that Tuesday wasn’t it? Managed to get away from work at about 3, walked to London Bridge and got 4 hours of beers in before the game. Then the match itself was so bad it was good, culminating in a last minute winner. Great day.

That is funny!

The Boro player didn’t even flinch on Sunday, though!

I ended up late late late night drinking at London Bridge after the match & I was at that mega mega level of extreme drunkenness, I'm still unsure how I got back to the place where I was staying.

A win does that to you though. Especially a last minute one.

Millwall away was fantastic, great day out.

Last 20 mins of Reading away was so surreal I didn't even get time to enjoy it.

Norwich away was the best time of my life for about 4 and a half minutes, then the rest of the day sucked the big one. Including being on a train with a bunch of nob head Nodge fans. And not getting home for 8 hours after full time 😒

Luke Chambers goal at Carrot Road and the (short lived) celebrations.
5-2 at home vs Sunderland.
Celina’s winner at home vs Leeds.
The entire day, pre-match, the game and post match vs Middlesbrough.
The league cup match at Palace with all the kids.
Cotter’s first half vs Barnsley.

Difficult to separate the 7 away wins under MM but probably Millwall was the pick of the bunch.

Yep that first half was utterly crazy stuff, second a bit more normal but to concede late on, think we had blown it, and then score a last minute winner.

Also worthy of a mention:
- Sunderland at home, scored five could have been several more;
- Forest at home, really good match, Huws looking like the player to improve us immensely;
- Luton away, nice to win a cup tie, Downes and Nydam impressive;
- Palace away in the cup;
- Downes, Nydam, Folami, Morris, Cotter, McLoughlin;
- Knudsen establishing himself as a good Championship player;
- Waghorn;
- Kenlock's determination to keep going throughout a difficult season for him;
- Freddie scoring at Reading last week.

It's a shame home form fell off a cliff between Boxing Day and April because there are quite a lot of good things from this season, another 8 or 9 points and we might have appreciated all of them a bit more.

It was and Freddie Sears getting his goal was certainly one of the best moments of the season and maybe I should have added that game to my post.
Fact still remains we still won 33% of our away games in the season whilst MM was in charge which was not too bad.

Left work early and sank a few pints by the river, then late night quaffing in some awful boozer on the main drag between LB and Borough.

Hilariously exciting game.

There was so much positivity in August (and through September). It was almost as if MM had listened and changed his approach and there were also some good news stories coming out of the club (free tickets, charity sponsorship etc.)

My (ironic) highlight was MM stating that He "trusted our strikers to score more than theirs" when quizzed if he would stick with his 4 up front approach. We then spanked Sunderland 5-2 and fans were tentatively hoping for a return to the barmy days under Royle with goals aplenty. Only for us to lose any attacking intent within a couple of months & return to the toothless dross we'd seen the season before

Luke 'f***ing' Chambers giving us the lead against Norwich. Even though I honestly believed the scum would equalise, the fact we were ahead with a couple of minutes left gave me enough hope to celebrate like I hadn't done since Priskin's goal against Arsenal.
