Crying when relegated 19:49 - Mar 28 with 8129 viewsSE1blue

Will anyone on here actually cry when relegation is confirmed?

I never understand crying over a team getting relegated.

When any team gets relegated they have generally been rubbish over the course of a whole season. And with us, you can add to that the fact that we have done nothing in this division for many years, with our Championship departure pretty much sealed weeks ago.

But you can bet there'll be pictures of Town fans blubbing about dropping out of the Championship when it happens. These people are either craving attention or slightly unhinged.

Much like losing a loved one who had a serious long-term illness, much of the trauma is dealt with or taken on board by the time the dread incident is confirmed. It will still hurt but in a numb sorta way.

I think it will feel surreal instead of emotional. We've known we were down for months.

Truly impaired.

I get one off games that could lead to something amazing, especially semi-finals etc. Its the loss of the possibles, maybes and end of the awesome ride.

Relegation crying is like being upset that the woman you had a one night stand with doesn't want to see you again after she's sobered up and remembered your premature ejaculation, which was followed by you urinating in her wardrobe and wiping yourself on the bedroom curtain.

Imagine a tense last game of the season where a win keeps us up and any other result relegates us.

We're 1-0 up. It's the last minute. With the last kick, our opponents equalise.

Not even a slightly moist eye?

I probably wouldn't cry, but there might be some interesting language. More likely to shed a tear if we won.

Nup, but I'd be pi$$ed off.

The two World Cup semi finals we have lost have caused me the most football upset but I didn't cry as I think I always knew in the back of my head that it probably wouldn't end in glory. That said, i only just allowed myself to watch a recap of World Cup 2018 as I was absolutely gutted.

The only time I've ever cried was when I saw Ipswich lose for the first time ever, I was about 6 or 7 and it was either 1979 or 1980. I had been to about 20 games and had only ever seen us win and a couple of draws. I truly believed we were invincible when I watched them and to find out we weren't was too much.

I think this is the point - more years are shed when it’s make or break over the course of one game. We’ve all been resigned to it for months so we’ve gone through most the stages of grief by now.

Did you get to the part where the goat-herding child suddenly stumbles across the elite unit? It's quite something.
