Scousers booing the national anthem... 23:53 - Aug 4 with 4717 views | Marshalls_Mullet | What's that all about? Fair enough, don't sing if you don't want to. But why boo?

Scousers booing the national anthem... on 08:11 - Aug 5 by artsbossbeard | Outraged by everything, ashamed of nothing. |
You could say that about 90% of English (not British) people at the moment.

Scousers booing the national anthem... on 10:29 - Aug 5 by muccletonjoe | If they want to play in the league of Ireland, surely they are more than welcome. They can sing the Irish national anthem before every game if they want |
They might even win the league if they do that!

Scousers booing the national anthem... on 23:59 - Aug 4 by The_Romford_Blue | They chant ‘we’re not English, we are scouse’ too. All incredibly strange. |

It is, but it's a good piece nonetheless, imho. Too much inverted snobbery perhaps, but hard to reign it in possibly, given the target.

Scousers booing the national anthem... on 01:28 - Aug 5 by ActionMan | Many still identify as being Irish despite being many generations removed and hate England and the English from experience so no shock there. What's more ironic for me is the fact that we're playing the national anthem for two foreign owned teams, playing with less than a handful of English players who's market is more abroad these days than here anyway. Surely we shouldn't bother now? |
I worked for Scousers with names like Murphy and Doyle, have met loads of them over the years and not once have I ever heard them go all Gerry Adams or whatever you're suggesting. They're an interesting lot to say the least, but I have no idea where you've got this from.

It seems more strange to not understand it to me, unless you've never been to Liverpool or hung out with scousers. The government literally planned to force people out of liverpool by underfunding to break up a left wing strong-hold. Then scousers were royally ('scuse the pun) done over with Hillsborough. All this "always the victim" stuff may have elements of truth but it's because they have been done over and left on the shelf in the past. It's a great city now( a lot down to the EU funding) with great, proud people, from my experience. It's nothing new either, been happening years. people have the choice to not sing it and even boo if they so wish. And that's before you even start to question the anthem itself and the ridiculous notions it stands for. People getting outraged about it is hilarious. Some people aren't patriotic, that's ok. Some people are patriotic but don't consider themselves royalists, that's ok too. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Really, the only true virtue signalling comes in under the guise of patriotism. It is so black and white. If you don't comply, you're in for it. Similarly, see remembrance poppies. It's very American, and it's a very juvenile kind of love. You can compare it to a child's love for its parents versus a parent's love for its child. A parent knows that the child isn't perfect and needs to reprimanded at times. A child blindly thinks it's parents are perfect.
