"He refused to rule out the UK and the EU failing to reach a trade deal by the end of this year."

Still, at least he has sorted out social care

"Johnson was unable to explain to Walker why he was taking so long to publish his plan when he claimed in July last year, on the day be became PM, to already had a plan. In his first speech from No 10 Johnson said: “I am announcing now — on the steps of Downing Street — that we will fix the crisis in social care once and for all with a clear plan we have prepared to give every older person the dignity and security they deserve.”

and any changes would not come into effect until 2025 at the earliest - so there was not 'a plan' last July, just as there is no plan for any trade deal outside of the EU, just waffle, bluster and lies.

whereas your bothering to not only read the posts in this thread but bother to reply is 'getting on with your life' we have to suppose

and the uncomfortable truth (for you) is that every time Johnson, Farage etc lie they will be plenty to point out those lies

you should be used to it by now

Im reading the posts because its my lunch hour and l like to have a laugh at the pure rage there is on here still over the election. Im not saying its perfect, far from it, but we have to get on with it. Its not going to change anytime soon.

I know what majority means. And the tory party got the biggest vote. Therefore they got the biggest majority to govern. Get over the election. Boris won by a mile, move on with your life, it will only ruin your existence

Biggest vote and majority of people voting for them aren't the same thing, so you've again refuted your own post by showing you don't know what majority means.

You are aware that intelligent, capable humans can both lead a successful life and hold the PM to account right? It's not an either/or situation. I've not had to give up on my hopes and dreams so I can criticise the PM on social media.

If these people repeatedly fail to give a realistic picture of the benefits to the UK of Brexit and indeed the current Conservative government which is the fallout then yes, they are morons.

This isn't a bullsh!tting conversation down the pub, this is about the real world and real consequences for people. No amount of empty slogans and blind patriotism will change that.

Im not bullsh! Ting as you put it. Im being realistic too. We are all stuck with it, so move on. Lifes to short man.

"We have to get on with it".

No, we don't have to get on with it. That logic is why we are where we are now with our worst ever government implementing (and screwing up even worse) one of our worst ever political, economic and social strategies.

You're making yourself look a bit silly here.

No one's disputing that the tories got a parliamentary majority, that's not the same thing as the majority of people having voted for them, which they didn't.

What you said earlier was patently and demonstrably untrue, you should really stop doubling down on it.

I don't get why you'd want to start an arguement about holding a politian accountable.

Boris won, it doesn't mean his job is done. Now he has to govern and work for the good of the UK.

Has he kept to all his pledges?
Has he gone back on anything he said in the lead up to him winning the PM seat?

instead of trying to frustrate and antagonise people, why don't you enter the debate with reasonable comments such as how you're holding him to account... how what he's doing is meeting your expectations... etc...

They haven't a clue about what to do about social care. The reason they want a 'cross party alliance' is that many solutions are too political - higher tax, death tax, inheritance tax, mandatory insurance etc

If people are interested then there's a very good analysis of the various options for funding social care by the Nuffield Trust here

Everything he says is, at best, hugely unconvincing and, at worst, wilfully dishonest. Well done England for making this clown PM with a big majority.

There are a few here who will just eat themselves, our Herbi is one of them.

They can't hack defeat and the fact that the party they support have policies which are proven to bring nothing but despair and bankruptcy.

BJ won on a mandate. He not only won, but took Labour seats which run red to the core.

I thought the social care pledge was for a cross party piece of work?

You started a thread the other day about RLB's alleged lies, why are you ok with the actual PM being so economical with the truth?

It's just like a game of football for you isn't it? The blue team can do what they like.

BJ's mandate, and the nature of his victory, should make us all the more determined to hold him to account for his promises, not give him a free pass.

Boris literally said they have a “clear plan we have prepared to give every older person the dignity and security they deserve”.

Are you now saying that 'clear plan' is just to start a cross party approach??

That's stretching credulity surely, even for a dyed in the wool tory?

Things aren't looking much better on trade deals outside of the EU either. This sort of stuff from Fox doesn't give you much hope that there's much of a future or that they know what they're doing.

Reality was always going to come crashing up against the lies and the disingenuous electioneering at some point. It'll be strangely, addictively morbid watching it all fall to bits.

Big up to you Jonty for trying to introduce a debate about issues that matter rather than the to and fro' bitchfest this thread has descended into.
Social Care problems and government funded pensions are never going away and needed addressing years ago. It is time for some really unpopular decisions to be made. The reason that this can keeps getting kicked down the road is because any government who takes it seriously and does something about it will be extremely unpopular - it's a vote loser.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

you've not understood my post.

I've asked a question.

If BJ said he had a plan then could that be starting a cross party approach which would lead to the outcome all want?

I like the idea of cross party cooperation providing it's done in the correct spirit. Something as important as this deserves a cross party approach.

It does seem that even though BJ has opened the tent on this some will still not be happy.
Am puzzled by that tbh. What else can he do? You're in the tent, make use of it and stop complaining. No?
