How can any of you believe in Shambert? 18:57 - Feb 22 with 26030 viewsBluefish

3 transfer windows
The most expensive weekly wage bill in our history
Limped to relegation with no fight at all
No clear style
Too often hoof ball
Ridiculous rotation
Odd treatment of players
Limping to 7th-10th in division 3
Failure to beat teams towards the top

There are no positives to him apart from pr stunts

Which year was 24 million? It is worth remembering also that 01 and 02 would have been skewed by bonuses

The wages last season jan to may will be our highest ever

Show me. Just saying it doesn’t make it true. Look at the last 2 seasons wage bills, that will help account for the increase following Jan signings. £24M was 2001/02. Bonuses are still wages, not sure we paid many for getting relegated though.

Edit. Relegated in 01/02

Our average wage was high, our highest paid player was on more and our squad was bigger. As the Americans say....do the math

Nor would he have agreed such a clause, as what point would the 5 years be ?

He's in for the long haul - which is pretty much how long it will take to turn around the squad, continue to get the youth set up working well.

The structure is there. Another 18,000 home fans, which would be a good attendance in the Championship - and favourable with one or two in the PL.

I believe he is the right man. Someone who has had experience at a number of PL clubs and knows how things should work.

With Clegg and Milne we were never going to succeed. We need the club ran by football types not bean counters or yes men.

It will come good ....eventually.

What have either of you seen that make you think he is the right man? Baring in mind you thought he was the wrong man only 10 or so days ago...

Herbi, CHealy, Bloots, Chickers, HaynesToe, & many others - I owe you an apology by BrixtonBlue 11 Feb 2020 21:54
I was wrong.

I guess hope ruled my head, but tonight's performance and result, has made me wobble. More than wobble. Maybe I just wanted Lambert to be the right man after so many false dawns. But now I'm wondering if this was another one.

That was carp. We are carp. Yes we are underfunded and I stand by that. But Lambert should be getting more out of this team against the likes of Wimbledon.

This, now, isn't good enough. I accept that. I was wrong.

Problem is, what do we do? Sack the manager? Lose the owner? Will any of these things actually turn us around? Football has died and us, or what used to be us, with it.

Did you fail at reading and comprehension at school? I've said Harry's post about needing a rebuild that will take time is one of the few sensible ones on here and you equate that to I think Lambert's the right man for the job!?

Seems like you and your uparrower got a bit over excited when you saw my name and in a rush to have a pop you haven't even properly read what I was replying to. I'm a bit embarrassed for you.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

Marcus is not beyond criticism, the way Magilton was sacked and the subsequent keane appointment were both a disgrace as was the fact that we have stuck with PRP thisnlong and the ridiculous 5 year deal. In reality the 5 year deal doesn't mean that much though, Marcus will just have to pay him off. You can see the logic in all of the appointments even though they have been disasters and he continues to keep this club afloat. Deflecting the blame from PRP to ME is just silly

You get I don’t support PL or ME don’t you? So in my opinion they can both FCK off. I don’t care who gets more blame week in week out.

I agree we need to rebuild but I disagree that Lambert should be the one to do it; he has shown no acumen or ability in the job whatsoever so why should he be trusted to reside of this? The rebuild should have started last year - if anything it feels like we’ve gone backwards.

I'd rather Holy and Dozzell got more game time but I'm not sure you can call their treatment "odd" particularly. It seems Lambert just preferred other players.

Not sure what you think has "gone on" with Norwood. Seems to me he's been carrying an injury which has hampered him so he's now having an operation. Nothing "odd" about that either.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

Holy's treatment has definitely been odd. He got dropped when we were top still despite doing nothing wrong, then came back in and played well against Wycombe and then got dropped again. Norris made several mistakes that cost us goals and yet kept his place for a long time. When you factor in that Holy is also our player and not a loanee it definitely doesn't add up.

You seem to be contradicting yourself a bit. In your first thread you rightly pointed out this isn’t just on Lambert and that things are fundamentally wrong with the club. Now you’re saying you believe the structures are in place to deliver success (or at least improvements).

I don’t think the structure has obviously changed since ME came in. We’re still relying on the Manager to effectively run all football matters, so we remain vulnerable to poor managers and we have little underlying structure to provide continuity between managers.

Great that you have Faith the we just need time, but I see no evidence of time alone being enough. I suspect more time will just see us sink lower. Either of us could be right of course.
